Song: Say You Won't Let Go
By: James Arthur
Ash's POV
"10 O'clock, got it Cinderella? The magic will fade at 12." Blanca said to my back as I walked towards the hospital's entrance. The place was silent. No one else walked the empty hallways but me. The only thing to be heard was my footsteps as I made my way to (Y/n)'s room. If she had come around, she would be asleep now, but that worked out better for me. Made the visit a little less painful if she never knew I was there.
As I passed empty seats and rooms, I felt all the more lonely. The reality of why I was here was setting in. I was here to say goodbye, for good this time. When (Y/n) was ready to be discharged, she would go to Japan with Eiji. She would forget about me, prehaps even find someone else to love and have a family. I knew it was for the best, but what is best always brings the most pain.
Upon finally reaching the room, I took a deep breath while my hand hovered over the handle. I didn't want to go in. I didn't want to say goodbye, I wasn't ready, but I forced myself to open the door.
Inside, (Y/n) lay asleep. A tube went inside one nostril, connected to a drip bag that was presumably filled with some sort of painkiller. Her chest rose and fell steadily, her soft breaths the only noise in the room. A small light was attatched to the beds' headboard, glowing down on her face.
I stepped towards her, body trembling slightly as I did so. "I... what have I done? He was right. I should have known it." I couldn't stop the tears, no matter how hard I tried. I just stood next to the bed sobbing loudly, knowing no one else could hear me.
Looking down at her through blurry eyes, I gently carressed (Y/n)'s cheek, but it only twisted the knife. Another flood of pain washed over me as I took her hand, kissing her knuckles for the last time. I had to force myself to pull away with a final kiss on the forehead. "Goodbye, (Y/n). Take care of yourself, love." And with that, I spun on my heel and left the room, wiping the tears from my cheeks.
(Y/n)'s POV
Someone was crying. Someone I knew. They touched my face and said goodbye. I didn't know what was going on. Why was he saying goodbye? Where was he going? Where are you going?
With all the strength I could muster, I willed my eyes open and clutched onto the thin blanket covering me. I was still incredibly weak, and walking drained what little strength I had, but somehow I made it to the doorway. I had to squint to see the person walking away, my vision distorted and unclear. "A...sh." I breathed, hoping he would hear me. And he did.
"(Y/n). No, don't move." He called, jogging over to me as my body slumped to the floor. He knelt down next to me, my hands finding their way to his face. I carefully traced his face, checking it was him through touch as I couldn't see. "Ash, where are you going? What's happening? Don't let go of me, say you won't let go." I mumbled, breathing heavily as my head was pulled gently into a warm body. I was in pain, so much pain. I could hear the heartbreak in Ash's voice, feel the way he held me as if it was the last time. I ran my fingers through his hair, desperatly trying to hold onto him.
The moment didn't last long, however. As Ibe and Charlie came running down the corridor, Eiji close behind them. "Ash!" Ibe shouted, making me jolt away from Ash. "Go, Ash you've gotta go! You'll get caught!" I pulled his face down to meet mine, planting a brief kiss on his lips before pushing him away roughly. "I love you, okay? Now hurry!" I cried, watching through blurry vision as he pulled away completely. "I love you too, (Y/n)." After that, he stood up and ran leaving me on the floor.
Moments after, Ibe, Charlie and Eiji were stood around me. "(Y/n)!" Eiji gasped worriedly, kneeling down beside me. Charlie tried to run after him, but I grabbed onto his leg. "No! Let him go. Don't go after him." I could literally feel my heart shattering as the words left my mouth, my grip on Charlie faltering. Eiji quickly pulled me into a hug as I broke down.
"E-Eiji, he's gone. He's really gone this time." I sobbed, clutching onto his shirt as my body trembled violently. Eiji knew he couldn't say anything to comfort me, not after losing the person I loved most. Instead, he rubbed my back, letting me bawl my eyes out into his shoulder.
Everything was coming crashing down.
