Song: Serotonin
By: Girl In Red
(Y/n) POV
"You're going back to New York, aren't you?" I asked Ash, pulling away from his chest. "That's why you wanted me and Eiji to leave?" Ash sigh and hung his head, averting his gaze from me. "It's just too dangerous." He murmured at the floor. "You'll be killed if you go back." I stated, running a hand through my hair. "It's the same here, anyways. His men will find us."
"True." I groaned, sitting down on the countertop behind me. "New York may be Dino's home ground, but it's mine too." Ash continued, joining me on the countertop. "You're still going to confront him?" I question, leaning my head on Ash's shoulder. "I can't stand hiding from him anymore."
"Well, I'm going with you. Weather you like it or not."
"You're stubborn as hell."
"You bet I am."
I chuckle, sliding off the counter, Ash was quick to follow. "C'mon. I think the others are having some tea, your favourite!" He nudges me in the side, clearly poking fun at the fact I'm from England. "Y'know, not everyone from England like tea? I know right?! Shocker!" I jab him in the ribs with my elbow as we walk up the stairs to where the others were sat.
I took a seat next to Eiji, Ash soon placing himself next to me. He slung and arm around my shoulders in a protective manor, almost as if to say 'She's mine, back off'. Not that he needed to, but it felt nice to be protected.
I poured myself a mug of tea from the pot on the table, swirling it around in the mug before taking a sip. Glancing around the coffee table, everyone looked okay except for Shorter, who seemed really down. Before I could say anything, Max's phone started ringing. He got it from his pocket and looked at the screen for a moment. "Not picking it up?" Ibe asked, looking over at a rather shocked Max.
"It's Jessica." He mumbled, his face twisting with shock and a hint of fear. "She probably wants consolation money." Ash smirked as he looked at Max trembling. "Shut up, you little punk." Max hissed, picking up the phone.
"Yeah. Hey Jessica." He smiled awkwardly. His expression changed suddenly as the words, "Who are you?" came out of his mouth. I instantly put my tea down, now listening intently to Max's conversation.
"Your wife tastes delicious." A deep, raspy voice said down the phone. "What a waste to break up with her. Here." It said, passing the phone to a clearly afraid Jessica. "Max." She whispered. "Jessica!" Max replied, relieved she was still alive. "I don't ever want to see your face again. But Michael... save Michael." She pleaded, followed by the distant yet clear screaming of Michael. "Daddy, Daddy!" He cried.
"Michael! Are you there?" Max said with panic, now standing. "Bring Ash Lynx to us if you want them alive. Oh, and the bitch... what's her name? Oh yeah, and (Y/n) (L/n). Although, she isn't our priority." The same guy chuckled coldly. "Rude." I rolled my eyes and clicked my tounge, leaning back in my seat.
"Wait!" Max yelled, balling his hand into a tight fist. "Touch them and I'll put a bullet through your brain!" He threatened the guy on the other side, will full intention of fulfilling his promise. With that, the phone hung up, leaving Max a mess that trembled with anger. By now, both Ash and I were stood up. "Any arms here?" He asked to the Yau-Si, who was standing in a corner close by. "Just my father's shotgun." He replied as he played with his hair. "Go get it, the bullets too." Ash commanded like this was his own house, not the man he was ordering around.
"It seems like they won't let us go back to New York so easily." I sighed, picking up a butter knife from the table and throwing it back down.
Minuets later, Max had a shotgun and Ash was preparing to leave. He reloaded his revolver, tucking it into his waistband. "You guys stay here." He told us all as we watched him carefully. "But-" I started, taking a step towards Ash. "This is my thing. I'll give orders here." He stated, cutting me off simultaneously. "Ash..." I tried again, my brow furrowed. "Don't look at me like that. Just leave it to me." He smiled, placing a hand on my cheek. I clicked my tounge. "Fine. Just don't get too hurt, okay?" I sighed, not looking Ash in the eye. "Never." He smirked, letting go of my cheek and stepping over to Shorter, who was on my right.
I didn't hear what they said, not that I was too bothered. I had moved to sit on the flight of stairs, resting my head in my hands. From afar, I watched Ash and Shorter talk. When the blonde boy walked away, Shorter called after him but when Ash turned around, he seemed lost for words. "Be careful." He mumbled, looking really tense and uncomfortable. "Yeah." Ash replied, sneakily winking at me before disappearing out the door.
"God damnit Ash." I groaned, throwing my head back. "Ow ow." I yelped as my head smashed against the hardwood. "Pfft- (Y/n), now is not the time to give yourself a concussion!" Eiji laughed, walking over and checking if I was okay. "Yeah, okay. That for that... advice Eiji." I said sarcastically, getting up off the stairs and flopping down on the sofa again.
"I swear to god, If Ash gets injured imma beat his arse." I mumbled, making everyone laugh.
