Song: STUPID
By: Ashnikko feat. Yung Baby Tate
Ash's POV
(Y/n) quickly joined me and Cain as we walked out the appartment, and to the bar where everything had been happening. It wasn't too far, and didn't take us long to walk there. The place was beaten up. Shards of glass and wood splinters littered the floor, lifeless corpses scattered everywhere, surrounded by a thick red liquid. Graffiti coated the walls, specked with blood. "Damn those bastards." Cain muttered angrily, walking in first and looking around. (Y/n) wandered in afterwards, scanning the area cautiously. After a few steps she dropped down, picking up a small golden capsual.
"5.56 millimeter cartridges." She mumbled quietly to herself, turning the metal cartridge over bewteen her fingers. "Ash, they didn't attack impulsivley. They had assult rifles." (Y/n) sighed, standing up and pocketing the peice of metal. Just as she had finished talking, the squeak of car brakes sounded outside. Rapd gunshots fired into the room, making the whole place shake. "Ash!" (Y/n) shouted over the noise, tucking herself away behind the counter. I hastily joined her, somehow managing to avoid getting shot. "You okay?!" I asked (Y/N, noticing Cain was also hidden there. She nodded, face oddly calm and focused. "They're back. We've gotta get out of here." She stated, poking her head and shoulders back up over the wooden counter and firing back at out attackers. "Ash, Cain, go!" (Y/n) shouted as she did so. Cain listened to her, shuffleing away as quckly as he could without drawing any attention to himself. I, however, was not as keen to leave her on her own.
"Didn't I tell you to go?" She yelled at me, ducking back below the counter and rushing out of the emergancy exit door, grabbing my hand and pulling me along as she did. "Honestly Ash. I've been doing this kind of thing my entire life, I can look after myself in a fight. Don't worry about me." (Y/n) scolded me, lettng go of my hand as we ran up some stairs, leaping up two at a time. She was right, of course. I didn't need to worry about her, but I still would be.
At the top of the stairs, there was a window which we jumped through. We landed on a fire escape, which (Y/n) instantly started going down. She waited one flight down for me, watching as I shot a couple guys which had followed us. "Ash, (Y/n), hurry!" Cain shouted from the bottom. His voice was followed by more gunshots, and the sound of them ricocheting off the metal stairs. I whinced, instantly squatting down behind a large vent to take cover. (Y/n) and Cain were completly exposed, aside from the stairs. Suddenly, the bullets stopped flying and the area went peaceful again. "Why aren't the shooting?" Cain asked with surprise, standing up from the ball he had made himself into. (Y/n) did the same, getting up off the floor from the featal positon she had curled up into in an attempt to protect herslef. "They've disengaged. The sick bastards are playing with us." She spat, making her way up the stairs to me. Her eyes flicked quckly over my body, checking for any injures I may had gotten. "You owe me a shower after this." She mumbled, lightly slapping my arm before jumping back through the window. "Yeah, yeah. I know." I chuckled as Cain joined us, also leaping back into the building.
I then went around all of the guys me and (Y/n) had shot, taking their fingerprints. "What're you doing?" Cain asked, squatting down next to me while (Y/n) wandered around the bar that was falling to bits. I don't know what she was looking for, but she must have been pretty distracted by it because she didn't notice when I called someone on my phone. That, or she smply didn't care, which is possible.
What I noticed is that when my call ended, she had frozen still and was stareing out the smashed window. "What is it?" I asked, walking over to her, breaking the trance. (Y/n) shook her head and frowned. "I don't know. I just feel like we're being watched?" She sighed as I interlocked my fingers with her, making her relax a little. "Or maybe I'm just being paranoid, but I'm not sure." I hummed, thinking of something to say that may help. But before I could, Cain's phone started ringing. I watched as he answered it, listening to what the person on the other side said. "What is it?" Cain asked, his face falling into a frown when he was replied to with a frightened. 'Boss, come back now!' He sighed, noticing me and (Y/n) watching him curiously. "We should head back." Cain stated, putting his hands in his pockets and walking out of the building. We followed, not having anything against the idea.
When the tree of us returned to the hideout, one of Cain's men was waiting for us outside. He was shifting his feet nervously and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't hide his anxiousness and shock. "Boss..." He muttered, flicking his head and walking shakily away. Cain followed him, his brow furrowed. "I don't think you should come, (Y/n)." I sighed to her, turnng my body to face the girl. "It's probably pretty bad, based off of that guy's reaction." (Y/n) roller her eyes, pulling me along in the directon Cain and his guy had gone. I groaned, knowing she wouldn't take no for an answer. But what we saw, was far from what was expecting.
A mans body was slumped against a wall, thick layers of blood smeared behind from where he had slipped down against the bricks. His entire lifeless body was dripping, blood soaking his locs and clothing. That wasn't even the worst part. The dead mans arms had been removed. Limbs hacked and torn off, the smooth joint visable beneath the muscle and tissue. Brown, lifeless eyes stared down at his bloodied lap, mouth open and missing teeth.
Me and Cain just stood there, stareing at the corpse, unsure what to do. Whereas (Y/n), slowly approched the man. And, crouching down before him, closed his eyes and mouth. She then hung her head, staying motionless for a few minutes before walking back to my side, never turning her back to the dead man. "Those bastards." She spat, her face twisting with disgust. "Damn it! Are they threatening us? Or..." Cain growled angrily, his body shaking violently. "They're havng fun." I said bitterly, averting my gaze for a moment. "The brutes." Cain spat on the floor by his feet, his hands curled into tight fists. "We need to move. If we go back downtown..." He started once he had calmed down a little, but I quickly dismissed that idea. "No, it's too dangerous to move in large numbers now. We'll do it admist the confusion when they attack."
"And it is a matter of 'when', no if's. They will attack again." (Y/n) added, running a stressed hand through her hair with a sigh.
I fished the phone from my pocket, clicking on the search engine and researching something. After a short while, I found something. "I knew it." I muttered, scrolling down a website page. "What? What is it?" (Y/n) asked, shuffleing closer and peering at the phone screen. "I found out who they are." Hearing this, Cain also came over, looking over my shoulder. "They're soldiers." I scrolled a little further, skimming the information as I did. "Former foreign airborne legion stationed in Corsica. Mercenaries, huh." Cain pointed out as he read. "Dino hired them. No doubt about it.... died in 2004? It says here they raided a terrorst base, but the aircraft was shot down when pulling out. None of the troop survived?" It didn't make any sense. The more I read, the less the information added up. "The comander was Eduardo Foxx." As soon as that name slipped past my lips, (Y/n) tensed up noticably. I looked a little further down to find a picture of a man I recognized from the gay bar. But I was distracted by (Y/n) to really focus on it. "F-Foxx? Did you say Foxx?" She stuttered, stepping back shakily. From there, she started pacing infront of me and Cain, hands by her head.
"Ash, that man is not dead and he is incredibly dangerous. Please, don't confront him." She pleaded, her body shaking fearfully from the simple mention of a name. Suddenly something came to my mind. "Max..." I muttered, eyes widening in realisation.
"I'm sorry, (Y/n, Cain. But I've got to go. Max is in real danger right now. Go inside, I'll be back!" I shouted over my shoulder, completely ignorant to the blinding panic present in (Y/n)'s mind.
