Song: My Alcoholic Friends
By: The Dresden Dolls
(Y/n)'s POV
Not too long after Sing left, Sergei entered my room. He had a small bouquet of various colourful flowers in one hand, and he opened the door with the other. "Are you ready?" He asked softly with a smile, striding closer. He help out the flowers to me. I looked at him quizically, slowly taking them. "They're from Eiji, so you'll have to thank him, not me." He chuckled, walking behind me and placing his hands on the handles of the wheelchair. "Aww, he's so cute." I hummed with a grin, smelling the sweet scent of fresh flowers. "He sure is a good friend to you, huh." Sergei muttered, ruffleing my hair before I swatted him away. "Okay then. Let's go." And with that, he began pushing me out of the hospital and to a waiting car outside. Once I was on the backseat, Sergei got into the drivers seat and started driving to the airport.
My brother didn't crash the car, the roads weren't too busy and no one spoke during the drive. It was a calm silence, not an uncomfortable one. I simply gazed out the window, hoping to catch a glimpse of someone familiar. My head turned at every streak of blonde hair we passed, but none of them were who I was really looking for. I sighed, leaning my forhead against the cool glass.
In all honesty, I didn't want to go. I wanted to stay here, in New York. It's not that I didn't want to get to know my brother better, of course I did, but the Caribbean isn't where I needed to be.
I nuzzled my nose into the hoodie around my neck, burrying my face into it. It still smelt faintly of that all-too-familiar aftershave I had come accustomed to. I breathed in deeply, closing my eyes against everything. Without me realising, tears had started to fall from my eyes. Apparently I wasn't coping with all this as well as I thought I was.
Sergei quickly noticed my muffled sniffs and pulled over. He opened the door and, speaking gently, coaxed me out of the hoodie to look at him. "What's the matter? Feeling a little overwhelmed?" He hummed softly. I nodded, leaning into him as he wrapped his arms lightly around my body. "I'm sorry, but I don't think I can do this. I don't think I can come with you." I cried into his shoulder. "I didn't think you'd want to. So, what now? We find Ash?" He chuckled as I pulled away, wiping teardrops from my cheeks. "You'll miss your flight." I stated, looking at him with confusion. He just smiled at me, telling me everything I needed to know. "Oh you little shit..." I scoffed, looking away from his smirking face. "You never planned on taking me with you, am I right?"
"Bingo!" He cheered, laughing to himself and standing back up. I glared playfully at him, shooing him away with my hand.
"So, where to first?" Sergei asked once he was back in the drivers seat, one hand rested on the wheel, the other on the gear stick. "The library. I know he'll be there. I bet Sing a motorbike on it..." I mumbled the last part, but it made my brother chuckle. He turned the keys in the ignition and started driving again, this time much faster than he had before. And within a few minutes, the grand library entrance came into veiw.
Ash's POV
I could feel my vision grow blurry as I re-red (Y/n)'s letter for what felt like the hundredth time. The library's interior was warm, but my skin was shivering. I was trembling, hands fumbling with the stained white page between my fingers. My body was growing heavier, eyelids drooping shut with exhaustion, but it was okay. I was alright. The tears falling down my face would suggest otherwise, but I was happy and at peace. Finally, this brutish, bloody nightmare had come to an end and the world was quiet. I rested my head on the desk before me, closing my eyes with a soft smile.
I didn't have to worry anymore. (Y/n) was safe, my guys were okay, and thats as all that really mattered. With a sigh, I allowed all of my anxieties and stress float away. The quite hum of the people around me slowly grew distant, as I let myself slip from reality.
