Song: Outrunning Karma
By: Alec Benjamin
(Y/n) POV
"You should have told us it was you're sons' birthday." Ash sighed, resting his head on top of mine as I leant on his shoulder.
"Yeah, thanks for letting me stop by." Max agreed, keeping his eyes on the dark road ahead. " '102, 42 Westwood' was it?" The older man asked, briefly glancing at me and Ash.
"This is it."
The truck came to a stop outside a large house. No lights were on, the whole house was in a shadow. I groaned, not feeling like getting out but forcing myself to anyways.
"What a big house." Eiji mused, joining me and Ash as we lent against the vehicle we had come in. Shorter, being the utter weirdo he is, ran towards the gates, stooping low but not even attempting to be sneaky. He went straight into the gate, unintentionally pushing the metal pieces apart. I furrowed my brow, glaring at the house and glancing around.
"How careless of them." Max mumbled, pacing in front of us. I noticed Ash doing the same thing as me. His eyes slowly moved from left to right, looking around suspiciously.
"Something's not right, is it?" I nudged him, placing a hand on the small of my back where the handle of the knife I carried lay.
"No, it doesn't feel right." Ash agreed, stepping closer to the gates and peering inside at the gloomy front yard.
I also took a step closer, breaking into a sprint when there was a high pitched scream.
"Out back." I yelled as Ash fell in step with me, quickly over taking me. I skidded around a corner, my hand grazing the floor as I dropped to my knees before an older woman. She was on her hands and knees, shaking from what seemed to be fear.
"Are you okay?" I asked the panicked women calmly.
"Master has been kidnapped!" She exclaimed as Shorter rounded the corner, taking the woman in his arms.
"Shorter, give me your gun." He didn't question it and handed me the pistol from his waistband. I checked to see if it was loaded and it was, just a single bullet missing.
"Thanks." I smiled at him, ruffling his hair, much to his annoyance. I got to my feet, following Ash as he leapt away.
"That way!" He called over his shoulder as he sprinted off. I sighed and ran after him, soon coming face to face with three men. Well, four but one was unconscious and slung over another persons shoulder.
"Stop!" Me and Ash yelled at the same time, skidding to a stop and drawing our weapons. "Damn it." One of the muttered, producing his own weapon from his waistband. Some random shots were fired at us, none of them remotely close to hitting either of us.
"Are you blind or what? This is how you do it." Ash spat, firing two shots and hitting his target on both. The third guy dropped the man that was slung over his shoulder and turned tail, muttering a quiet 'damn' as he went.
"Fuck, that was kinda hot." I muttered to myself with a chuckle. Unfortunately, Ash overheard me.
"Oh? You thought that was hot?" He smirked. I flicked him away with my hand. "Now isn't the time to be flirting."
"You started it."
"Did fucking not."
"Yeah yeah, whatever. Shorter, go out front." Ash took a few fast steps forwards as I crouched down next to the unconscious person laying on the floor. "A girl?" Ash muttered, briefly looking at the person while watching around us. "But that old woman said 'Master'." I replied, pressing two of my fingers against their neck right next to where the jugular vein is. There was a steady pulse, so they weren't dead. Their head was to the side, chest rising and falling steadily.
"Sorry Ash, they got away. They had a van ready." Shorter breathed, running around from the opposite side of the house. Max also appeared behind me, scaring the living shit out of me. I had been so focused on the unconscious guy, I had never noticed his presence appear.
"Excuse me, (Y/n)." He said, half apologising for making me jump, half asking me to move. I did as he requested, standing and walking towards Ash as Max lifted the mans body from the ground. "Let's go inside." Max suggested, now carrying the man bridal style.
The old lady from earlier showed us in and allowed Max to place them man in a bed.
"Shorter." I called, tossing the gun casually to the boy named while sinking against a wall. The lady started to explain what happened.
"I was making dinner when those men came barging in and took Young Master." She said, her voice shaking slightly as she lean over the sleeping mans body, fluffing up a pillow and laying his head on it.
"So they were after this boy?" I muttered from where I was at Ash's feet.
"Who is he?" Ash added, playing with my hair with one hand.
"Yau-Si is Master's... he is Professor Alexis Dawson's son." The old lady replied, bowing her head. "Son?" I pondered, slowly standing up in time to see the man wake up.
"Young Master!" The old lady's eyes widened with relief.
"He looks like Eiji." Shorter mumbled loud enough for us all to hear.
"You think?" Eiji replied, clearly not seeing the resemblance. The man had long black hair with a ribbon tied in it, long enough so that when he sat up, his hair dragged across the bedsheets.
"We came here looking for an Abraham Dawson." Max said to the newly awoken boy.
"That's my father's younger brother. Though, I've never met him."
"Your dad isn't Asian, is he? Guessing from the name." Ash asked, wrapping an arm around my shoulders as I observed the black-haired man carefully.
"I was adopted." The man in bed replied, blinking slowly as if he was in pain.
"My father didn't have any children, so he adopted me."
"You landed big."
"Ash!" I scolded, gently slapping his arm. Ash chuckled, stepping out of my grasp and holding his hands in the air in a fake surrender.
"So, where's the Professor now?" He asked, walking around to the other side of the bed.
"Father has been missing for six months now."
After that, we were lead to a library.
"Something's not right." Ash muttered, after a two hour long silence.
"I agree with you, something isn't right." I wander around the library, stepping over the books that were strewn across the carpeted floor.
"Where do you think you're dad might be?" Max asked, kneeling down on the floor. Eiji came up behind me, tapping my shoulder and pulling me off to the side.
"So~" He sung quietly, ignoring the ' I'm interested but not that much' look Shorter was giving us.
"So what, Eiji?" I raised my eyebrows at him expectantly.
"So~ You and Ash were in an.... interesting position earlier~ did something happen?" He hummed excitedly, grabbing both my hands. It took a second but when it clicked, I blushed furiously.
"W-what? NO!" I yelled, receiving a concerned glance from Ash.
"Eiji~ I was sleeping!" I whined quietly, burying my face in my hands.
"I know, but you were in the front... alone with Ash... straddling him! Or that's what Shorter said."
"I'm going to kill that purpled haired rat." I fumed, marching away from Eiji, who just stood there in fits of laughter. I nudged under Ash's arm as he talked, scowling at Shorter who just stood there looking all innocent.
Bitch.
