(Y/n)'s POV
The graveyard was quiet, although I hadn't expected it to be otherwise. Soon after arriving, I quickly realised I didn't actually know where Shorter's gave was, and neither did Sergei. So, we spent a good half and hour wandering around looking for a headstone that read 'Shorter Wong'. Eventually we found it nestled in a quiet corner under a young tree that no doubt Nadia had planted. Truth is, I hadn't seen her since Shorter's death, but apparently nobody had. Some rumors went around about leaving New York completly, which I can't say I blamed her for. Even though Shorter was yet to have a proper funeral, Ash has seen it done that he was burried... or what was left of him was burried.
I lay the bouquet down at the base of the headstone. The polished red granite was smooth and clean, free of any dirt or marks. Someone had clearly been taking care of it, and I could think of two people who it could be.
Sergei wheeled my chair around to the side of the stone, then walked away with a silent nod. I sighed, placing my forhead to the cold granite. "Hey Shorter. You found yourself a nice girlfriend yet? I bet you have... I wouldn't want you to be alone up there eh? I miss you... we miss you." I muttered to him, tears slowly rolling down my cheeks. I stayed like that for a while, my thumb gently rubbing the top of the gravestone. "Oh god... look at me crying like this." I chuckled sadly to myself, a hand falling softly onto my shoulder. I looked back, but no one was there. I placed a hand over where that sensation was, my tears coming to a stop. "Maybe I was wrong... you're still here, huh?"
I wiped my face as I heard footsteps approaching. Sergei walked out from behind some trees, his face softening at my tear stained face. "Are you ready to go? I think it's going to rain." I nodded, placing a final kiss on the Shorter's headstone before Sergei started pushing me back towards the car.
As soon as we were both inside, the heavens opened and rain poured from the sky. "Good timing!" I chuckled as my brother strapped himself in and started the engine. "You can say that again." He did a fake shudder. "So, where to now?" He asked, reversing out of the parking space. "The library. I think that's where Ash will be."
"Righto." And with that, we were on out way to the library."
After a few minutes of driving, a police car sped past. It's sirens and lights blaring. AN ambulance was close behind it, lights and sirens on. I frowned as I watched them pass. They were headed in the same direction as us, and it made me worry a little. "Can you speed up a bit?" I asked, but my brother was already on it. He put his foot down, now going at exactly the speed limit.
From there, it didn't take us long to get to the library. Sure enough, the police car and ambulance were parked outside. Paramedics rushed inside, while sniffer dogs and their handlers searched the area. Sergei parked somewhere you're probably not supposed to park and got out. He helped me out and into the wheelchair, is face void of emotion. "Hello sir, miss. I'm afraid we're not allowing anyone into the library at the moment."
"What's happened?" Sergei asked monotoniously, looking the officer in the eye. "Well, there's bee a murder and someone is severely injured, Mr.Blanca, sir." The officer shifted nervously, his gaze on the ground. "I see..." Sergei smiled at the anxious officer.
Seconds later, paramedics came rushing back out of the library with a stretcher. "He's lost alot of blood, do we have any ID?" One of the people acrrying the stretcher shouted to the others as they carefully carried the man down the steps and towards the ambulance. "No, not yet. But we may have a name. On this letter it say's 'To my darling Aslan.' So that's most likely his name."
"Right! Aslan, Aslan can you hear me?" Another paramedic spoke loudly, but calmly.
I froze.
"Sergei." I whispered. Luckily, he got the hint and wheeled me swiftly over to where Ash was. He helped me stand as I stared at Ash's motionless body. Blood stained his clothes, and the letter one lady had in her hand. "Ash. Call him by Ash, he won't resond to Aslan as well." I told the paramedics as they placed an oxygen mask over his face. I pushed a strand of hair from his eyes, relieved to find him still warm. "Ash!" I cried, holding his cheek with one hand, while my other hand held tight to my brother for balence. He looked so pale, even more so than usual. I cried even harder when a single eye forced itself open. A slither of green showed itself, and a tear welled up agaisnt his blonde eye lashes. I wiped it away, leaning down and pressing a kiss to his forehead. "Miss, I need you to step away." A paramedic urged me.
"You're going to be alright, yeah? You're gonna be fine." I squeezed his hand one last time before he was placed inside the ambulance and taken away.
"Sergei! We've gotta follow them." I was crying uncontrolably now, my body falling back into the wheelchair.
