(Y/n)'s POV

Halfway through the night, I was awoken by the sound of glass shattering. I rolled over, soon noticing Ash was not beside me. This, however, did not mean the breaking glass was caused by him. Pushing aside the covers, I stood up and picked Ash's spare revolver out of his bed side draws before silently making my way towards the bedroom door.

Our bedroom door opened up into a short hallway that lead into the sitting room and kitchen, further down that hallway was the room Shorter was supposed to be staying in. However, he had crashed on the sofa watching some corny rom-com.

As it turned out, it was Ash who had smashed a glass. He was now sat, head in hands on a bar stool at the kitchen island. I placed the gun I was holding on a table next to a vase as I walked closer. Ash looked up as I got near, mumbling a quite 'careful' and gesturing to the glass around his feet. A mix of whiskey, glass and blood pooled at the legs of the stool, spreading slowly across the wooden floorboards. "Ash?" I asked carefully, slipping on a pair of nearby sandals before moving any closer. He jerked his head away from me, tears obviously glistening in his eyes. I kissed his head, setting to find some news paper and a dust pan and brush to clean the mess up.

Ash watched me cautiously as I lay the news papers down to soak up the blood and spilt whiskey. Shorter also watched, sighing heavily as he reached for two glasses and another bottle of whiskey from the cupboard. I scowled at him, he shrugged and poured.

Once everything was cleaned away, I sat next to the two men, moving the bottle out of reach. Ash was already on his third glass,  Shorter close behind. "Are you going to tell me what's wrong?" I asked Ash, reaching for his hand. He let me take it, pressing a soft kiss against my palm before lowering it and holding my hand properly. "Nightmare." He whispered, voice shaking as his eyes avoided meeting mine or Shorters. "Dino.. Marvin.. Foxx they-" Ash let out a stifled sob, dropping his head to the table with a thud.

I stood up, lifting Ash's head off the table and into my arms, cradling it as he cried, his whole body trembling.

It was a long night. Ash didn't go back to sleep, insisting that if he did the same dream would haunt him. Shorter was awake now too, also unable to sleep and fighting the urge to text Eiji and tell him what was happening. I tried my best to stay awake, but struggled. I had hardly slept the past few nights, excited for Ash's return. Despite my best efforts, I ended up asleep, waking up hours later back in bed. Ash and Shorter were still in the sitting room when I went to find them. Both of them were fast asleep on the sofa, leaning on each other, Shorter drooling onto Ash's arm. I sighed with a smile, writing a note on the back of a sticky note.

'I've gone out for brunch with Eiji, ill be back around 2 x'

With that, I went back to the bedroom, dressed and headed out to meet Eiji.

Ash's POV

"(Y/n).." I curled up closer to her warm body, nuzzling my head into her chest, wrapping my arms around her. "Wrong person, buddy." Shorter giggled as I pulled away sharply, wincing as pain shot through my head. He was grinning like the Cheshire cat as I moved to the other end of the sofa groggily. "Hey, Ash."
"What?"
"You've got a little..." He motioned to my arm, which was slick with saliva. "Shorter! You little-" I shouted, jumping off the sofa as fast as my drowsy body would allow me to, rushing to the shower, tearing my shirt off as I went. On the way, I noticed the note (Y/n) had left. I had no intention of leaving today. I was going to shower, then sleep off this hangover. Hopefully before she returns.

"Don't use all the hot water!" Shorter called from the sitting room just before I closed the bedroom door. "Don't worry, I will." I replied, shutting the door and locking it behind me. There was a loud groan from the sitting room, followed by a thud of someone collapsing onto the sofa.

The warm water was welcoming, but it made my eyes droop. I eventually found myself sat down in the bathtub being lulled to sleep by the warmth and the quietness. The only thing I could hear was the water hitting my skin, and I soon found myself drifting off as my eyelids grew heavier and my body sank.
