Ash's POV
"No.... I can't promise that. But if it makes you feel any better, I'm not trying to die, and i'm here now." I mutter into (Y/n)'s hair, knowing it wouldn't make her feel any better. "Just don't talk like a dying man. Don't say shit like that." Her whimper was muffled against my chest as I pulled her closer, holding her as tightly as I could without inflicting any pain. "Okay, I won't, I'm sorry." I rubbed her back, kissing the crown of her head while swaying slightly. "C'mon, lets go back, yeah? Eiji's gonna beat me with a slipper if I don't get you back safely..." I groaned at the thought, letting (Y/n) pull away mostly. My arm slipped around her waist, holding her next to me as we walked.
(Y/n) was falling asleep as we walked, eyelids drooping as she leaned more of he weight on me. Eventually it had gotten to the point where I couldn't walk in a straight line, so I picked her up bridal style and carried her back. It was cold now, my breath forming little clouds in the air as the moisture condensed. (Y/n)'s face was burried in her jumper, body pressed securely against me as she slept quietly. When we did gat back to the appartment, Eiji was stood just inside the front door. His arms were crossed, a dark green slipper in his hand. The weapon fell to the floor as soon as he saw (Y/n) in my arms. He rushed over to us, eyes scanning her relaxed body for any injuries. "What's wrong? Why are you carrying her?" He worried, watching as I carefully stepped around sleeping people and placed her in the 'bed' we were sharing. "Nothing's wrong. She's just sleeping, thats all." Eiji visably calmed down at that, laying on his own mat and watching as I took off my shoes and jumper, then (Y/n)'s shoes but left her hoodie on. "Whatcha watching me for?" I hummed, raising an eyebrow at him. The Japanese boy made a 'hmph' sound before rolling over, a small embarrassed blush on his cheeks.
(Y/n)'s POV
I was woken up by a warm ray of sunlight hitting me in the face. I groaned, rolling away from it, my arms outstretched in a search for Ash. When nothing came into contact with my fingertips, my eyes flew open. No one lay on the bed next to me, just a dent was left where Ash had lay. In fact, no one else was in the room, not even Bones. It was probably about midday, judging from the angle the sun came in through the high window. I sat upright, stretching out my whole body with another groan. I ruffled my hair in a half-hearted attempt to neaten it out, before standing up and wandering out the room.
A group of boys were sat around a table, playng cards and just chatting. They looked up as I entered, nodding their hellos before quickly returning to their games and conversations. I walked a little farther, looking for Eiji, Ash, Bones or Kong. To be honest, I just wanted the company of someone I knew. Even Sing would do. But the first person I bumped into, literally, was Cain. "Sorry." I mumbled, giving him an appologetic smile and movng back. He just chuckled, patting my shoulder gently. "Don't stress it." He smiled back at me, taking a step back to put a little more space between us. "Do you know where Ash is?"
"Yeah. He's in the room at the end." I thanked him, slipping past and walking briskly to the room named. Sure enough, Ash was there, sat on a bare bed with a phone in his hand. I moved over to him, peering at the phone screen in his hand.
It was a news page, the headline reading 'Dismembered Arm in Midtown, Victim Identified' with a picture of a graffitied dumpster below it. "Shit, that's brutal. Who's the victim?" I asked Ash, sitting down next to him on the bed. Cain quietly walked into the room and sat on a chair, crossing his arms over the back of it, opposite Ash "It hasn't been announced publicly yet, but I think its Frog." He sighed back, turning off the phone and setting it down next to him. "Anyways, how are the Chinese doing?" Ash shuffled back on the bed, pressing his back against the wall. "They're the same as usual, why?"
"Well, don't you think it's strange? They were locked up in an obvious place. If it was a trap to capture Sing, why were there so few men there?" He leant his head back, closeing his eyes with a sigh. "I was thinking the same thing... it doesn't add up." I bought my knees up to my chest, resting my chin on them. "If they'd let Sing's guys go on purpose..."
"You're overthinking it. The guy that Sing trusts the most..." Cain didn't get to finish his sentence as one of his guys came running into the room, skidding to a halt, his face etched with panic. "Boss! They shot Killer Bee!" He shouted, prompltly rushing back out the room. "What?" Cain cursed, gettng up off the chair and quickly following his man out the room. "Shit, this can't be good." I muttered, also getting up and chasing after the two men, Ash close behind me.
When we got to the room, I saw a young black man laying on the floor. The torso of his body was sloppily wrapped in bandages, as he lay there, hand over his wound, biting back a cry. Cain was knelt over him, while other men crowded around him. An open medical kit lay on the floor, it's contents tipped out from the rush and panic. I grabbed some more clean bandages, pushing my way through the men and kneeling down next to the injured man. While I wrapped the new bandages securely over the other loose ones, Cain asked the man questions. I didn't listen to what he was saying, I was too focused on saving this man. Ash watched everything from afar, listening to Killer Bee's answers. "Golzines men, then." Cain muttered bitterly, catching my attention as I tied the last bandage. "Golzine?" I repeated quietly, standing up and stepping out of the way.
Just when I though I was finished, another man rounded the corner into the room. "Damn, they got Harlem Chicken too!" He shouted, making me grab the remainding bandages off the floor and follow him to where 'Harlem Chicken' was. I skipped around Sing on the way out, smiling a little at him. When I got there, Harlem Chicken was sat up against a wall, a wound in the same place Killer Bee's was. I skidded to my knees next to him. "Lift your shirt." I ordered, and he did, making my job easier. It was a clean wound, the bullet had gone straight through his body. Which, although it sounds bad, is preferably as it means I don't have to dig around to get a bullet out. It didn't take me long, and I gave him some painkillers in an attempt to help him further. They weren't strong, but it'd take the edge off.
When I had finished, Ash and Cain walked down the corridor together. Harlem Chicken thanked me as I stood up, shaking my hands as blood dripped off them. Some of it drying and clinging onto my skin. "Damn, I look like I just killed someone, not saved their life." I muttered, making Ash chuckle. "Go wash it off, then come back here. We're going out, I may need your help for this." He smiled, but his tone was serious, so I knew he wasn't playing around.
"So, I'm guessing this isn't a nice date then, no?"
