(Y/n)'s POV

I managed to stomach half the plate of food and the whole glass of water. It honestly felt good to have something in my stomach, though I feared I might see it again. The remaining half of the food, Ash had nicked and eaten after I said I was finished.

For the rest of the day, I wandered around to get a better view of this new place. At one point, Ash had joined me and we sat on the edge of a cliff and chatted. We only stopped because Ibe came shouting at us for 'being to careless'. I had simply shrugged and walked back to Ash and Griff's house to sleep.

About 3 hours after I fell asleep, I was woken up by Ash gently shaking my shoulders. "Hey, we are going to get some coffee at the diner. Do you wanna join us?" I blinked and looked up past Ash to see Shorter and Eiji stood behind him. Eiji was yawning and rubbing his eyes. He clearly had the same idea I had, to take a mid-afternoon nap. I nodded and took Ash's hand, standing up and slowly walking towards the diner. "They aren't serving breakfast food now, so you should be able to go in." Ash smiled down and me, slinging and arm across my shoulders. I leant into the contact, still not fully awake. Usually I would be, but because of the whole Y'know... being pregnant and being cursed with stupid surges of hormones, I was still tired.

When we entered the diner, I held my breath to start with but when I did breath through my nose, I smiled. The place now smelt of freshly brewed coffee, something I personally like. (If you don't then I'm sorry xd) Jennifer slid a mug of the warm, bittersweet liquid. I thanked the woman and took a sip of my drink, leaning against the counter. "Thanks for the coffee." Me and Ash said in unison, making me smile at my drink.

"Why did you come back here after all this time?" Jim said suddenly from where he was sat behind me, newspaper in hand. "You shouldn't be here. You know that." Ash didn't retaliate to the words spoken by the old man. "We'll leave once the truck is fixed." He said calmly, coming to my side and slipping a hand onto my hip. "Why'd you let him just say those things?" I whispered to Ash, visibly angry. The boy simply chuckled and gave my hip a soft squeeze. "If I hadn't already finished it, I would pour hot coffee over his sorry arse."
"Arse?"
"Fuck off."

Before I could say anything more to Ash, Shorter came to the door of the diner. Ibe was close behind him. "Finally, we found a battery that fits."
"That great, so you can leave now Ash." Jim cut in. I rolled my eyes and broke away from Ash's grip. "(Y/n)-"
"Absolutely not, do not try and stop me." I clenched my teeth, swatting Ash's hand away from my body and I strode over to where Jim was sat. "Is it not within your ability to be pleasant?" I smiled down at him, leaning over the older man. "Look, you are his father. Aren't fathers supposed to be a little more caring?"
"What's with this punk kid?" Jim muttered, looking away from me. "She's Ash's... I don't even know at this point but she and Ash are very close." Max said, walking over and placing a hand on my shoulder. Despite the fact I was expecting it and saw his hand come down, I flinched away. He frowned and retract his hand. "Why do you want to get rid of him?" Max was much taller than I was, standing at 6'1 or there about. I slowly moved away from the tall yet gentle man.

"He's your son. Don't you love him?" Jim didn't even look at Max while he spoke to him, he was more interested in the paper. "And who are you? Why are you sticking around him?" I raised my hand that still had the coffee mug in as if to throw it at Jim, but before I could my wrist was gently seized and lowered. I looked over my shoulder to see Ash stood behind me. I sighed and allowed the ceramic mug to clatter to the ground, it didn't break. Ash gently pulled be out of the diner, and I followed him.

We walked side by side, hand in hand, in silence for a while. The quite allowed me to think. My thoughts wandered freely, breaking into some memories I had almost forgotten were there. Images of a younger me and an older boy flashed through my mind. We were playing in a field, chasing each other around and playing tag. The boy looked over his shoulder at me, long dark brown hair swaying in the wind, dark eyes sparkling playfully. "Hey, (Y/n)! Catch me if you can!" He laughed, leaping away and running off. I chuckled aloud, watching my 7-year-old self chase after my 15-year-old brother. Brother.

We dashed through the knee-length grass, running towards a small grove of weeping willow trees. "Sergei~!" I called out with a giggle, jumping around a tree and tackling my big brother to the floor. We lay there for a few minutes, laughing and catching our breaths. The sun had started to set, making shadows fall around us. "C'mon (Y/n), we should get back or Mum will be worried and angry." My brother smiled, standing up. I did the same, jumping on his back for a ride.

"(Y/n)? Why'd you stop?" Ash's voice brought be back to reality. I smiled softly at the boy in front of me, giving him a peck on the cheek.

"Ash, I just remembered... I have an older brother."

Uhhh... I have nothing to say 😂
