A Few Years Prior

You and Billie have been in a pretty steady relationship. Yet you two had the issue of working pass the damage your exs' caused. Both of you were relearning what it meant to be loved. Just receiving it. Both of you knew how to give it to each other without thinking twice.

When the relationship first started Billie gave you an offer. An odd one in your opinion.

"We don't have to be public. We can keep it to ourselves. You don't have to worry about my parents or friends. Or the world for even that matter."

"So we stay a secret?" She nods her head. Not making eye contact with you, but picking her finger nails.

"Babe it's been a few months I think we should tell others. I mean we naturally fell into this. I've already told my parents and some friends. My siblings love hearing about you at this point. I want what you want though." You say as you realize you voiced to much of your own feelings.

"I just want us to work. If that means you call me at 3 in the morning just so we can talk. That's fine. Or if you want to talk to me alone I'll step away. I just want you to know that you are a priority to me." You pull her close to you, but then stop.

"I know I'm a priority. Yet you can have more than one. You are a big family person and I am too. So how about this...." You shift convincing yourself to continue. "We go with the flow. What doesn't work. Doesn't work. We can make changes to it later. Baby steps."

"Baby steps." She agrees with you. You look to the clock and notice what time it is.

"Babe." You gesture to the clock. "I don't want you to be late." She smiles at you and leans over to connect her lips with yours.

"I'll see you later." You nod as she leaves out. You release a breath you didn't realize you were holding.

A Few Days Later

"Hey baby." You smile into the phone. It's early but seeing her face makes your day. You wave into the camera. "I'm sorry did I wake you?"

"No. I was just laying in bed honestly."

"You look adorable." She stares for a bit. "Ohhh uhmm so I know you said baby steps and I was thinking why don't you come to the house kinda the studio? Meet Finneas and Claudia?" She rubs the back of her neck. "You don't have to let me make that clear."

"You picking me up?" You ask as you slide out of bed and head for the bathroom.

"Yes of course. I'll be there in 20." She smiles and she thinks she hung up. "Starbucks. She would definitely love that." You laugh as you notice she's skipping. You end the FaceTime and get ready.

A few minutes early Billie is outside. You notice she keeps looking at the clock on her phone. You walk out to the car.

"Hi." You say all shy through the window. Billie jumps and drops her phone. She quickly recovers and gets out the car.
