Your girlfriend remembers the first time she saw you. You were visiting the campus with Hannah Stuelke. Hannah and you stayed to watch them play.

Kate did everything she could to stand out. It appeared you would be close with the team anyways. If Hannah wanted to be an Hawkeye.

But on the visit she noticed you were in your phone. Only to find out later it's because you have a boyfriend. She tried to stalk your Instagram but your page was private. Yet your profile picture was you and him.

Then when she officially met you..... you were at freshman orientation. She ran into you as she was heading to CHA to put up shots with a few of her teammates.

She remembers the smile on your face as she was surprised. You were sporting a cheer hoodie.

"I didn't know you...."

"My boyfriend said it isn't a sport but yea...." You tell her as you fix your hair.

"It is a sport. Bet you are just as strong as I am. Tossing people isn't as easy as throwing a ball."

"I'm a floater but I agree." She tilts her head confused. "The one they throw in the air and stuff."

"Never heard it called a floater before. So that means you are good at flips and stuff." You two get lost in conversation for a bit. Until her phone goes off.

"I'm sorry I gotta go. Maybe....."

"Bye KMart. I'll see you around." You wave at her and leave. She watches as you walk away. She's going to kill Molly when she sees her. It doesn't register until she's on the gym floor. You gave her a nickname.

A few weeks before classes finally started she had seen you more and more. Cait, Gabbie and a few others told her she should start a counter.

One time Hannah overheard and thought it was cute that Kate has a crush on you. So at team bonding she brought you along.

The team out mini golfing. Kate wasn't the worst at it but she could use some pointers. Turns out you, Caitlin and Molly were the leaders of this. So you helped Kate.

"Don't swing so hard. Little taps go a long way. Like this.... Can I?" She nods and whispers out a quick yes. You step behind Kate and help her grab the club. Your body completely pressed against hers. "Breath. Relax into me."

She follows the instructions you give her. Usually she's good at this but she's been a bit tense with you around. Like when you're afraid you'll embarrass yourself in front of your crush.

After that moment Kate just wanted to know everything about you. So when you guys went to get froyo she sat an talked to you. Well the group, but they all were trying to get to know you more.

Kate was beyond attentive.

As time went on Hannah started sharing your boyfriend problems with the group. Apparently he is absolutely the worst.

One night you were out by the fountain. Not long after she witnessed it. Kate was leaving the library when she saw you. She hadn't seen you in a few days.

"Y/n?" She calls out. You notice her and wipe your face quickly. She walks over quickly. "Hey I haven't seen you..... are you okay?" You want to say yes but before you can even open your mouth more tears flood your face.

Kate immediately wraps you into her hold. You were having a hard week. Especially with classes just starting. Your family dog had just passed.

Your boyfriend was absolutely the worst and showed no support or sympathy towards the situation.
