"What does she want?" Rosie asked frustrated. I sighed as maids rubbed some oils and ointments on my hands and legs. Another maid was massaging my head to rid me of my aches but the ache in my heart was the only one that cannot be cured.
"I don't know; I never thought she would actually come" I answered. Before Rosie could say anything else the doors to my room opened. I sat up to see who came, it was Suleiman. I stood up and bowed to him along with my maids.
"Leave us alone" Suleiman ordered. The maids bowed and left along with Rosie. He sat down on my bed and gestured for me to sit beside him. I sat down beside him not knowing how to act now that he had another woman in arms other than me for the first time in many years, Suleiman hasn't engaged with another woman other than me since Hürrem died.
"I was told you were feeling ill, are you alright?" Suleiman asked touching my forehead. His protectiveness made my heart race.
"I am alright, just woozy after what happened yesterday" I answered. Suleiman's face scrunched in confusion. Mustafa didn't tell him, I wonder why? He didn't know that it was Sahihuban Sultan who did it so he had no one to protect. Unless he thought it was his mother.
"What happened yesterday?" He asked confused. He placed a finger under my chin and raised my head up so he could get a good look at me.
"I was attacked yesterday" I answered. Suleiman's face was almost unreadable. His eyes widened and his mouth opened in shock.
"What? Who? Why?" He asked confused. He pulled me in for a hug trying to comfort me. I held on to his Kaftan feeling safer in his arms.
"An agha attacked me while I was leaving with Mustafa to the hospice" I answered. Suleiman pulled away from me and looked at me confused.
"Mustafa?" He asked. I sighed and placed a hand on his cheek. I can't ruin tomorrow for Mehmed and Osman, they've been waiting for this day for years.
"Let's just forget it and focus on Mehmed and Osman, it's their day tomorrow" I whispered. Suleiman sighed and leaned his forehead against mine.
"You're alright, right?" He asked placing both of his hands on my cheeks.
"My body is but not my soul" I answered. Suleiman pulled away from me and raised an eyebrow.
"Firuze, is she your new favorite?" I asked in a whisper. Suleiman pulled away from me completely and stood up from the bed.
"I'll leave you to rest," he said before leaving the room. I rubbed my face to push my tears back knowing that he was avoiding telling me because it was true and he didn't want to hurt me by telling me.
"Is everything ready, Hundi Kalfa?" I asked my loyal servant. She stepped over to where I stood in line and bowed to me. Hatice was beside me with Sahihuban Sultan at the beginning of the line, on my other side stood Gülfem and beside her Mahidevran who eyed Mihrimah, the eldest daughter of Sultan Suleiman khan, who stood on her left, and beside Mihrimah were my daughters.
"Yes Sultanim, you can go to the tower of justice now" Hundi answered. I nodded my head and made my way out of my room with the rest of the women alongside me. The harem maids bowed to us and giggled as we passed by. The sight of the concubines reminded me that Mehmed and Osman need their harems too.
I stood in front of the window with Hatice on my right. My heart swelled in size as Mehmed and Osman followed their father out into the marble clearing followed by their guards. Suleiman sat on his throne looking as majestic as possible while Mehmed and Osman stood to the side. I wish Hürrem was here to witness this day, moments like this made me regret causing her death when I could have gotten her banished, I couldn't live knowing she was alive and hating me, she was my best friend and I can't live knowing she hated me. She was almost like a sister to me so I gave her the easy way out, this way she won't be pained being away from her children.
