Episode 20: Super samurai

Our episode opens up with the five rangers waking up only for Daisuke to tell them that they need to rest as their wounds need to be healed first before they can save their friend. Sadie then asks Daisuke what happened to Kenji, and Daisuke tells her that the Akuma captured him. after that, we cut to Deker carrying Kenji all the way to a spring just outside the Shiba temple and dropping him in the water. this wakes up Kenji who asks where he is, followed by Deker explaining that they are at the Shiba temple's sacred spring and that the holy water can cure him of Octomancer's poison before telling him to drink up, as he wants him to be in fighting shape for their final duel. after that, we cut back to Akuma palace where lord Ashura wonders what's taking his son so long to finish off the red ranger, followed by Nocturna telling lord Ashura that Deker likes to give his opponents a fair fight and that maybe he's biding his time. we then cut back to the Shiba temple where Daisuke hands Spike the black box, telling him that when he finds Kenji give it to him. we then cut to the waterlogged Kenji waking up to find himself in the ruins of his old home. Kenji then gets back up on his feet and finds a piece of fabric amongst the burned rubble and picks it up recognizing it as a tattered piece of grandpa Mako's kimono. Deker then shows up and recognizes the damage as his father's doing, drawing his sword and promising that his father will pay for all the lives he's taken including his mother's. Kenji is confused by this, asking Deker if he hates his father then why does he serve him. Deker then tells Kenji that it's because it's the only way he can be free from this cursed existence, explaining that his father offered him a deal that if he were to eliminate the last Shiba clan descendant he would rid him of his Akuma half and allow him to live in peace as a full human, explaining that he didn't ask to be born into this world and that he was a product of his father's treachery and manipulation along with his baby brother who was never given a name and was left to die with his mother. Kenji remembers the story from the tapestry and puts two and two together, feeling sorry for Deker. we then cut to the netherworld where Arachnitaur looks up at lord Ashura's palace and promises revenge for his exile before mutating himself and saying "stone canyon, here i come". we then cut to the Shiba temple where one of the temple guardians hands Daisuke a message from Kenji's uncle Nobu that says that a monster has been sighted in stone canyon and that the rangers must return to America. the other four rangers board the spirit eagle to return to stone canyon while Spike stays behind and tries to contact Kenji on his morpher but gets no response. Spike then runs through the forest and morphs while running before we cut to Arachnitaur wreaking havoc on stone canyon before the four rangers arrive to fight off the monster as best they can before we cut back to Kenji and Deker's conversation where Kenji suggests to Deker that maybe his father is lying to him, however Deker refuses to believe it and tells Kenji that he'll do what it takes to achieve his goal of granting himself humanity, drawing his sword and holding it up to Kenji's neck, followed by Deker taunting Kenji by telling him that he can see the fire in his eyes and that we all have a dark side before transforming into his monster form, telling Kenji to embrace his inner demons. Kenji looks at the piece of tattered fabric in his hand before his eyes start to glow the same purple aura as Deker's whenever he switches forms, however Spike shows up and stands in the way telling Kenji that he came to rescue him before handing him the black box and the two disappear in a puff of smoke. we then cut back to the dojo in stone canyon where sensei is greeted by Daisuke and the two have a happy reunion along with Kenji and Spike who successfully came back from their trip to japan with the black box in hand. after they hand over the black box to sensei Nobu, whom of which tells Kenji and Spike to follow his lead and the three combine their symbol power to supercharge the black box with symbol energy from their power discs upgrading it into a more modern design complete with a super disc for them to use. Kenji and Spike both then morph and hop on their respective samurai cycles and arrive just in time to help their fellow rangers. Arachnitaur then demands them to hand over the black box however Kenji refuses and uses the black box to activate super samurai mode (cue shinkenger episode 24 fight). after Kenji defeats Arachnitaur, Nocturna plays her shamisen to make him grow while being accompanied by a group of new footsoldiers called croclams. the rangers summon their zords and Spike tells Kenji to use the super disc to combine their megazords. the two megazords combine to form the samurai master megazord to destroy Arachnitaur once and for all with the spirit cannon. after that, we cut to Daisuke assuring sensei Nobu that he feels the black box is in good hands before heading off and uses symbol power to transport himself back to the temple, right before Kenji looks at the torn piece of fabric wondering what happened back there with Deker, and our episode ends with lord Ashura scolding his son for not eliminating Kenji Shiba when he had the chance followed by Deker informing his father that Kenji Shiba is not to be underestimated, as he has sensed darkness inside of him and that he's the only one here qualified to go after him, ending our episode on a cliffhanger.
