Our episode opens up with the six rangers in shock of seeing Kenji back, only for sensei Nobu to hug his nephew while telling him that he's glad to see that his favorite nephew is okay. Kari then asks her cousin what brings him back to the dojo after knowing the dark truth behind his Akuma heritage. Kenji then tells her it's because during his time in self-exile all the way in Japan, he paid a visit to the shrine to the grand shogun. sensei and Kari are both taken aback by the mentioning of the grand shogun while the others are confused by what the heck is a grand shogun, followed by Kari explaining to them that the grand shogun was the first head of the Shiba clan and her ancestor who sealed away lord Ashura 300 years ago. Sadie knew this all along, as she heard about it from her Japanese history class which impresses Kari. sensei Nobu then asks his nephew what the grand shogun said to him, and Kenji responds by telling his uncle that the grand shogun told him that his mother was a member of the Shiba family and that since he is half Shiba and half Akuma it is his destiny to bring peace to the warring factions. the others are in awe of what Kenji just said, followed by Kenji showing sensei the shogun buckle telling him that the grand shogun gave it to him. after that, we cut to Deker brooding on stone canyon beach with Nocturna by his side only for Octomancer to show up and inform the two that he is done preparing for the ceremony however Deker is unsure about it as he knows that his father will likely be there however Nocturna tells Deker to be optimistic for a change as it's their special day, followed by cutting to Akuma palace where we see the wedding guests consist of marauders and recycled shinkenger monsters with lord Ashura taking a front row seat and comically telling one monster that's his son as well as another monster asking the monster next to him to pass him a tissue. after Nocturna and Deker finally kiss, we cut away from that bit of comedic nonsense to the more serious side of things at the dojo where sensei lectures his seven students on his plan of attack that he came up with: Nigel, Oscar, Ava, Sadie, and Spike all surround lord Ashura and try to keep him occupied while Kari uses the sealing symbol to re-seal lord Ashura once and for all. Kenji then raises his hand and asks sensei what about him, followed by sensei telling Kenji that his job is to stay put, saying that lord Ashura is way too powerful for him to handle and that he doesn't want to risk losing him. Kenji then retaliates by saying that he should be the one leading the charge against lord Ashura, not Kari however sensei Nobu reminds him that Kari is older and by far a more experienced fighter and symbol magic user than he is which is why he picked her for this mission instead of him and that is final. Kenji then looks at Kari with resentment over her taking his place right before we cut to the beach where Deker and Nocturna are sitting by the beach with Deker contemplating about what his purpose in life will be once this is all over, followed by Nocturna holding Deker's hand telling him that wherever they go they'll always have each other. lord Ashura then shows up to tell the two that they're a cute couple and that their marriage secures the future of his bloodline, once the time comes for them to settle down and start a family producing heirs for the Akuma clan. Deker then draws both his swords and confronts his father, only for Nocturna to grab his hand and tell him to let her handle this. she then asks lord Ashura what he wants, followed by lord Ashura telling her to hand over her shamisen so that he can destroy it and free her mother's soul from her father's cursed instrument so that it can migrate safely to the spirit world. lord Ashura then slams the instrument onto the ground and shatters it with his sword, freeing the soul trapped inside followed by Nocturna praying to her mother's soul to have a safe journey. however lord Ashura suddenly grabs the soul and eats it, Nocturna calling lord Ashura a liar. he then explains that the Akuma's lack of souls is what allowed their kind to be sealed in the first place and that now with a soul in his body he shall now be able to resist the sealing symbol's power. after that, we cut to the dojo where the gap sensor goes off prompting Kari and the other rangers to morph and ride off on their samurai cycles while Kenji watches. we then cut to the six rangers arriving at the beach to confront lord Ashura followed by Kari Shiba telling lord Ashura that she's the true heir to the Shiba clan and has the power to seal him once and for all followed by lord Ashura taunting her to hit him with his best shot (cue Shinkenger episode 48 fight). Kari hands Nigel the black box and Oscar the shark disc and tells them to remember sensei's plan and to follow her lead. Nigel goes super samurai while Oscar goes shark attack mode and follow sensei's plan by holding him down while Kari writes the sealing symbol while having flashbacks to her childhood and promising to the late grandpa Mako she's about to fulfill her destiny and bring honor to her family name, all the while Deker and Nocturna watch from a nearby cliff. we then cut to the dojo where Kenji grows tired of sitting around doing nothing and grabs his samurai morpher and recklessly runs off while ignoring sensei's warnings. we then cut back to the fight with lord Ashura who proceeds to smack the rangers around like ragdolls while Kari finishes the sealing symbol which at first seems to work on lord Ashura much to Deker and Nocturna's relief only for lord Ashura to get back up revealing a white patch on his chest. Deker is in disbelief while Nocturna is angry at lord Ashura for tricking her and consuming her mother's soul. Deker then tells her that she should've expected it from him as his father cares nothing for her only himself and his 300-year old grudge. the rangers are in disbelief, lord Ashura telling them that with the power of the human soul he absorbed from Nocturna's shamisen he is now invincible, knocking the six rangers out cold. Kenji then arrives on the scene much to the surprise of Deker. lord Ashura then greets Kenji, holding out his hand and offers him to join the Akuma clan and the two of them can conquer the human world as father and son. Kenji then refuses, whipping out his samurai morpher and morphing into the red ranger before summoning the shogun buckle and activating shogun mode followed by his teammates being amazed by Kenji's battlizer while Spike starts fanboying and cheering Kenji on. Kari then warns Kenji of lord Ashura's newfound power followed by Kenji whipping out the shogun spear and charges at lord Ashura, only to get smacked around like a ragdoll by lord Ashura knocking him back into regular red ranger mode as well as knocking his helmet off. Kenji then draws his spiral sword only to be picked up by the neck with lord Ashura scolding his son for defying his father. Kenji then tells lord Ashura that he is no father as fathers are kind and love their children and that he is nothing but cruel, manipulative, and abusive towards his sons. Deker is touched by Kenji's speech followed by lord Ashura telling Kenji that he is weak just like his brother before tossing him onto the ground before retreating. we then cut to the six returning to the dojo where Kari apologizes to Kenji for seeming like she was trying to steal his team from him and that she now understands how he feels to be left out as she herself was pretty lonely for most of her life. she then relinquishes her title as team leader back to Kenji and the two bow to each other in respect followed by Kenji showing sensei and the others his Akuma tattoo and tells them that this mark means nothing to him now. after that, Kari asks sensei that since the sealing symbol didn't work on lord Ashura what are they going to do now. sensei then hands his nephew Kenji a Shiba fire disc he created telling him that he made it as a backup plan for if the sealing symbol were to fail, explaining that he designed it to work in conjunction with his shogun mode which will power up the shogun spear for a shogun fire strike attack. the gap sensor then goes off like crazy followed by sensei Nobu giving a speech to his seven students that their months of training have been leading up to this very moment and that their final battle with lord Ashura will be the day they graduate from students into full-fledged samurai warriors and that he couldn't be more prouder of them. the seven then bow their heads in respect before we cut to both marauders and recycled shinkenger monsters alike emerging from crevices all over stone canyon and terrorizing the populace while Bulk cowers and hides in his sushi spot while watching the Akuma run rampant through the streets of stone canyon wondering where the power rangers are and wondering what would Skull do. we then cut to the six samurai rangers arriving at the quarry standing in front of Akuma palace ready to storm the place only to be confronted by an army of marauders. Kenji then tells the others that the time has come to prove themselves to their sensei that they are worthy of the title of samurai before morphing and drawing their swords to charge at the seemingly endless army of marauders. after that, we cut back to the dojo where several marauders break into the dojo and surround sensei and Kari ending our episode on a cliffhanger.
