Our episode picks up where the last one left off, with the rangers letting Spike into the dojo with Kenji demanding Spike what he's doing here. Spike then explains to them that he wants to be a samurai ranger just like them. the rangers are in disbelief of what Spike just said, only for sensei to show up and demands to tell them what's going on here. sensei then sees Spike and starts shaking his hand, politely asking what brings him here. he then explains to them that he wants to be a hero just like them, a power ranger and shows sensei his gold ranger sketch. the rangers then facepalm and sensei asks what he's talking about. Kenji then hands sensei Spike's crushed cell phone and explains the whole ordeal to him. Sensei understands and tells Kenji to take him home. Spike then begs Kenji for a chance to become a samurai ranger, as he is their biggest fan. Kenji takes pity on him and decides to take him under his wing as his apprentice. we then cut to Kenji trying to teach Spike calligraphy, explaining that a samurai must harness symbol power which is used in battle to conjure up elemental-based attacks. however Spike can't do the strokes right, resulting in a mess of scribbles. Kenji facepalms before we cut to Kenji teaching Spike kendo handing Spike a shinai. the two then engage in a sparring match only for Spike to fall flat on his butt, only for Kenji to help him back up and tell him that he can't become a samurai overnight it takes months even years of training to get as good as he is and even his teammates are still in training. we then cut to Akuma palace where Octomancer tells lord Ashura that he has a monster that'll burn up stone canyon: Firant. we then cut back to the dojo where Spike finishes his sushi before tying a bunch of water bottles on ropes to the ceiling before putting on a blindfold while the five rangers watch. we then see him pick up his shinai and proceed to whack all the water bottles off of the ropes one by one while doing backflips at the same time all the while the other rangers along with sensei watch in amazement only for Spike to fall on his butt yet again. sensei then alerts the rangers of an Akuma attack in downtown stone canyon and the rangers morph and drive off on their samurai cycles while Spike begs sensei Nobu to go with them as that's where his uncle Bulk's restaurant is located. sensei however denies it saying that he's not ready as he hasn't had enough samurai training yet and to just leave it to the rangers. Spike is bummed out by this and looks at his gold ranger sketch and comes up with an idea. we then cut to downtown stone canyon where Bulk is being attacked by Firant only for the rangers to shoot him down on their samurai cycles. the rangers try to fight him off as best they can only for the five of them to get roasted. the monster then turns his attention to Bulk only for a mysterious hero to stand in his way. this "hero" turns out to be Spike, wearing his very own shoddy home-made gold ranger costume. the rangers all facepalm while Bulk asks Spike what he's wearing and what's going on. Spike then tells his uncle Bulk not to call him Spike but Spike: THE HERO!, followed by Kenji telling Spike to get out of there as it's too dangerous, however Spike doesn't listen and tries to whack the monster with his shinai only for the monster to burn the wooden sword and proceeds to smack Spike around like a ragdoll only for Nigel to stand in the way to protect Spike and get badly burned by the monster's fire. after that, we cut to the dojo where sensei Nobu tends to Nigel's wounds while Kenji contemplates about how stupid he was to let Spike in the dojo. we then cut to Spike returning to Bulk's sushi spot still wearing his fake gold ranger costume and sits down to take off his painted motorcycle helmet and contemplates about how he screwed up. Bulk then scolds Spike for doing something so stupid it nearly got him killed. Spike then retaliates by telling Bulk that all he wanted to do was be a hero and help the rangers fight the bad guys. Bulk then places his shoulder and tells Spike that he's already a hero: his hero, the way he greets customers and serves sushi like a pro. Spike then sees Firant attacking the city out the window and tells his uncle Bulk that he must go as hero duties await him before putting his motorcycle helmet back on and running out the door. we then cut to the rangers confronting the monster before morphing. after they morph, Spike still wearing his fake ranger costume runs up to the rangers before stopping to catch a breath causing both the rangers and the monster to facepalm and say "not again..." before Kenji asks Spike what he's doing here and Spike explains that he came here to help, all the while Bulk watches in disbelief of how insane Spike is. Spike then begs the rangers to fight with him before Bulk grabs Spike by the arm and apologizes to the rangers before dragging Spike away telling him that he's coming home with him before the monster shoots fire at Bulk injuring him. Spike then drags his unconscious uncle Bulk to safety while the rangers do battle with Firant. after Bulk is taken somewhere safe, Spike re-joins the rangers and aids them in finishing off the monster with the fire smasher cannon. Nocturna then shows up to play her shamisen to make the monster grow while the rangers summon their zords (cue shinkenger episode 14 megazord fight). after the rangers destroy the monster with the spirit eagle megazord, we cut back to Bulk who wakes up only to see Spike standing next to the now de-morphed rangers, followed by Kenji telling Bulk it was Spike who saved his life causing his jaw to drop in disbelief as well as Nigel saying that Spike was a hero which makes Spike feel better. sensei Nobu then arrives on the scene on his motorcycle to give Spike a present he wanted him to have (which has the Shiba family crest on it) and our episode ends with sensei speeding off on his bike while Bulk has a hard time comprehending what he just heard causing him to faint and Spike looks at his present wondering what it could be.
