THE SUN WAS A FEW HOURS from peaking over the horizon when Leo woke everyone up via banging some spare pieces of metal. Neither Ace or Arya were thrilled to be waking up before the sunrise and neither of them talked as they got ready for the day.
By the time they made it out onto the deck; Leo, Jason, and Piper had already managed to find the steps leading down to Asclepius. Apparently Leo had found it pretty easily because the entrance was being hidden by a large Archimedes spear.
Ace strapped his swords to his back and thanked everyone for their well-wishes. He was pretty sure that every single one of them was going to go back to sleep. Well maybe not Arya, who was cautiously taking in their surroundings, as if she didn't trust a single thing around them.
She was the last thing that he looked at before lowering himself down the ladder.
The steps spiraled downward for about sixty-feet before opening into a giant room.
It was like they had set up a snapshot in time. Benches filled into ten rows all facing an altar. One side had trees that lined the wall while the other had statues of various smaller gods, some in better conditions than others. The entire floor was made of a pristine white tile that was nearly blinding.
Ace informed the others that this is where the people slept who came for the god. That Asclepius would visit them in dreams to offer up healing solutions.
Piper and Jason had no qualms about walking straight to the altar where a statue of Hygeia was sitting. As they made their way, Leo pointed out the magazines about god gossip that seemed more than a little dated. Piper noticed the electronic signs that had suddenly appeared on the doors to the right of Hygeia.
"Apollo said that Asclepius was being held here under Zeus' orders" Leo said, nervously glancing over at Ace, "Something about giving away too many medical secrets."
