Quinn took a deep breath as she entered the restaurant. She walked up to the hostess and told her she was meeting Noah Puckerman.
"But I'm a little early."
"Mr. Puckerman is here, so you can follow me."
Quinn nodded and took another deep breath as she followed the girl through the restaurant until they reached Puck's table.
"Thank you." Quinn said softly to the hostess as Puck got up to greet her.
"Quinn." Puck smiled as he hugged her. "Thanks for coming."
"Of course." Quinn nodded when they parted. She and Puck took their seats.
"It's good to see you." Puck said. "You look good."
"You, too." Quinn responded. "It looks like L.A.'s been good for you."
"Yeah." Puck agreed.
"It's been a while." Quinn noted, trying to break the ice.
"Long enough for us to almost be grandparents." Puck played along, running his fingers through his hair. "Although some of us are already going gray."
"It looks good." Quinn assured Puck, eyeing the few gray hairs on his head and in his scruff. "You don't look old. You look mature. And handsome."
Puck smiled. "Thanks, Q."
"I can't believe we're gonna be grandparents." Quinn said, shaking her head.
"Let's just be glad she waited to have a baby over ten years after we did." Puck reminded Quinn.
"Let's just be glad she married someone we like." Quinn added.
Puck raised his eyebrow.
"Sorry, that came out wrong. I wasn't talking about you. I... I'm sorry." Quinn apologized, shaking her head. She picked up her drink and sipped it.
"Forget it." Puck muttered.
"I'm sorry." Quinn apologized again. "Everything that happened between us was... I really-"
"Let's not talk about us." Puck interrupted.
"Okay." Quinn nodded slowly. She bit her lip and looked at Puck. "But to be clear, I couldn't have asked for a better father for my children."
"Me neither." Puck said. "Well, a better mother."
Quinn smiled slightly and sipped her drink. "Did Lucy fly out with you?"
"Yeah, she's with Hudson." Puck answered.
"Good." Quinn said.
"Where's Grace?" Puck asked.
"Home." Quinn replied.
Puck nodded slowly.
"Did you get a hotel? There's plenty of room at my place, if you want." Quinn offered.
"I don't think that's a good idea." Puck said.
"Noah, don't be ridiculous." Quinn told him. "We're still a family."
"No, I just meant that way Lucy can spend time with you without me there." Puck noted. "You two never get that."
"Did you get a hotel?" Quinn asked again.
"I'm staying at Jake's." Puck answered. "When he has enough of me, I'll hang out with Sarah, and then Beth."
"She's been doing really well." Quinn stated. "Handling it well."
"She's seen it before." Puck noted. "Yeah, I was over there this morning to put some shit together. She should be good to go."
"Good." Quinn said. "Did she tell you it's a girl?"
"She did." Puck answered. "I'm really glad you're here with her. You're the expert, and she needs you."
"She's been doing really well." Quinn repeated. "But it'll be really special to be here for everything, you know? To watch our granddaughter grow up."
"I didn't think of that." Puck muttered.
"Well, like I said, you're welcome to stay at my place whenever you want." Quinn reminded Puck.
"Thanks." Puck replied.
Quinn nodded.
Puck nodded back.
"You know." Quinn said, looking at Puck. "I'm really glad I'm becoming a grandparent with you."
"Yeah?" Puck asked.
"Yeah, it makes it even more fun." Quinn explained.
"Fun?" Puck repeated. "You're not worried about me calling you old?"
"You're older than I am." Quinn laughed. "Besides, we'll still get to grow old together, in a way."
"Well, for what it's worth, I'm really glad it's you, too. All of it."
