"Quinn."
Quinn turned around, her eyes widening when she saw Finn.
Quinn immediately greeted Finn with a hug, holding him for a moment. When they parted, Quinn looked at Finn.
"It's so good to see you. What are you doing here?"
Finn looked at Quinn, too choked up to speak.
"We can talk later." Quinn nodded, squeezing Finn's hand. "Come with me to the grocery store."
The pair got in Quinn's car, and Quinn began driving.
Quinn didn't say anything. She knew Finn well, and she knew when to ask questions and when to give him time. He would talk to her eventually.
When they got to the grocery store, Quinn led the way inside and began walking around.
Finn trailed behind her, distracted by his own thoughts.
"Hey." Quinn said, taking Finn's hand. "I got you."
Finn nodded, and the pair continued walking.
"Quinn."
Quinn smiled at her friends. "Hey, guys."
"Hey."
"Who's this?"
"New boyfriend?"
"This is my friend, Finn." Quinn answered, looking at Finn.
"Hey." Finn muttered.
"He's sick, so we're gonna finish up and get out of here." Quinn told her friends. "You'll get a proper introduction another time."
Quinn's friends exchanged a glance and nodded slowly.
"Later."
"Bye."
-
The car ride back was silent. Quinn brought the groceries in, leading Finn into her apartment.
"I'm back! Anybody home?"
No one answered, so Quinn looked at Finn. "Looks like it's just us. Make yourself comfortable while I put these down. We can talk whenever you're ready."
Finn nodded slowly as he sat down on the couch.
Quinn excused herself and began putting everything away. She bit her lip and took a deep breath as she returned to Finn, who sat up upon her arrival.
"I'm really worried about you." Quinn said. "And you don't have to tell me everything, but you can."
Finn nodded slowly and took a deep breath.
"I'm here for you." Quinn reminded Finn. "And I won't judge you."
"I got kicked out of the Army." Finn began. "I accidentally shot myself, so I got a semi-honorable discharge."
"You shot yourself?" Quinn raised her eyebrows. "Are you okay?"
"And Rachel dumped me." Finn continued. "She's working on her degree and living with some guy, and I have no idea what I'm doing with my life."
"But now you have the freedom to figure it out." Quinn stated.
Finn looked at her.
"I'm sorry about Rachel, but I think you made the right choice to not follow her to New York." Quinn continued. "You're young, you're single, you're cute-"
Finn smiled slightly.
"Now's the time for you to figure it out." Quinn added. "You're so talented, Finn. You're a leader. There's a place for you wherever you want it."
"You really believe that?" Finn asked, hopeful.
"Absolutely." Quinn confirmed. "Look at everything you accomplished, everything you did in high school."
"What if that was it for me?" Finn wondered.
"It isn't." Quinn shook her head. "You're gonna keep doing great things. You just have to figure out what that is."
Finn nodded slowly.
"After Beth was born, I never would've imagined going to Yale, or any college." Quinn added.
"Yeah." Finn smiled proudly. "Hey, where is Beth? I wanna say hi to her. And Puck."
"Noah and I had a similar conversation about two months ago." Quinn told Finn. "I'm the one who initiated it, but I could tell he was miserable here."
Finn furrowed his eyebrows.
"So I told him to go to L.A. like he always wanted." Quinn went on. "The job he had here sucked, and he wasn't making any money. And he had no creative outlet. I figured he could take his pool-cleaning business to the west coast, and work on music or something, too."
"He's in L.A.?" Finn asked.
"He's living in L.A.." Quinn confirmed. "But he and Beth are here since we're all going home for the holidays."
"Beth lives with him?" Finn wondered.
"During the semester, she'll be in L.A." Quinn explained. "I'll have her all of January, and I'll join them in L.A. for the summer."
"That's gotta be hard." Finn noted.
Quinn nodded slowly. "When she starts school it'll be harder, but we talk on the phone every day, and this is what's best right now."
Finn nodded back.
"Noah and Beth should be back soon." Quinn said. "They're gonna be so happy to see you."
"Yeah." Finn agreed. "And you're okay without Puck?"
"I'm okay." Quinn nodded.
"Okay." Finn echoed.
Quinn smiled slightly.
"What?" Finn questioned Quinn.
"It's really good to see you, Finn."
