"So, are you gonna drive, or am I?" Puck asked, grinning at Quinn as he adjusted the helmet on his head.
Quinn raised her eyebrow. "I thought you said you've driven these before."
"Of course, babe." Puck said, sitting down on the ATV. "I'm a natural."
"Right." Quinn muttered, fastening her helmet.
"I've got this." Puck promised. "You said you wanna live a little, right? Come sit."
Quinn took a deep breath and exhaled slowly as she eyed the ATV.
"It's like riding a bike." Puck noted, grabbing the handlebars as he revved the engine. "Just with a few more wheels and a hell of a lot more speed."
"Go easy, Noah." Quinn requested.
"I promise I won't let anything happen to you." Puck swore. "Now get on."
Quinn rolled her eyes and climbed on behind Puck, holding onto his waist.
With that, they were off, bumping and jostling over the sandy trail. Quinn, cautious, held on tightly. Puck, however, was in his element—flying through the twists and turns of the dunes with a grin on his face.
It felt like they were the only two people in the world, just the wind, the sun, and the endless stretch of sand before them.
Puck leaned into the turns, kicking up sand behind them as Quinn tightened her grip, her heart pounding from the thrill.
But then the dunes started getting steeper, the sand more unpredictable. Quinn's instincts were telling her to slow down, but Puck—always the risk-taker—was loving it.
"Slow down, Noah!" Quinn yelled.
"Relax, Q. I got this!" Puck yelled back.
Quinn's grip tightened on Puck's waist as the ATV bounced over a large bump. And just as she opened her mouth to yell at Puck again, the ATV flipped, sending both of them sprawling onto the soft sand.
Quinn felt her body slam against the sand, the wind getting knocked out of her. She groaned as she sat up.
"Noah? Are you okay?"
Quinn's heart skipped a beat when she saw Puck lying face down in the sand. She shook off the shock as she made her way over to him.
"Are you seriously hurt or is it just your pride?"
"I busted my knee." Puck answered, wincing as he tried to move. "And maybe my ego. But mostly my knee."
"What did I tell you? I said you didn't know what you were doing." Quinn scolded.
"Shut up." Puck replied, though there was a smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Just give me a minute. Are you okay?"
"I think so." Quinn pushed the helmet off Puck's face to get a better look at him. "Take it easy."
Puck smiled, not wanting Quinn to worry about him. "I swear, Q, if I end up needing surgery, it's totally your fault."
Quinn rolled her eyes, trying to keep the worry out of her voice. "Uh-uh. I told you to slow down. You're the one who insisted on acting like a daredevil."
"It was kinda fun though." Puck noted.
"Yeah, well, not anymore." Quinn said. She looked around for the ATV, which was now lying on its side a few feet away. She took a deep breath, wincing in pain as she exhaled away her anger and looked back at Puck. "I swear, you're like a child. I can't take you anywhere."
"Help me up." Puck requested.
It took a few tries, but Quinn got Puck onto his feet. Or foot. He couldn't put any weight on his leg, due to his knee, so Quinn held him up. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Puck nodded. "I'll be fine, babe. Besides, you're here, right?"
Quinn smiled slightly. "You really know how to sweet-talk your way out of trouble."
"Works every time." Puck said. "I'll be walking again by tonight, just gotta work the charm."
Quinn laughed, her chest aching as she did. "Maybe the resort can lend us a new one?"
"We'll figure it out." Puck shrugged as he and Quinn made their way back toward the resort. "We'll get a ride back, call for help, maybe even score a free drink or two while we wait."
"Only you would think about free drinks after crashing an ATV." Quinn commented, shaking her head.
"You've been with me long enough." Puck pointed out. "I thought you'd be used to the chaos."
"Oh, I am." Quinn responded. "But you owe me a better vacation next year."
"Deal."
