Courtney huffed as she shuffled through her house, making sure all the dishes were placed neatly on the large dining table. She folded the napkins into triangles and placed them on the correct side of each plate.

"Courtney, darling. Will you please make sure the mashed potatoes are properly seasoned? I need to run upstairs to get changed. I spilled wine on this dress," her mother-Kristy- called from the kitchen. Courtney looked up

"Oh, sure." Courtney said, standing up and walking into the kitchen as Kristy rushed upstairs. Courtney walked over to the massive bowl of mashed potatoes and stuck a spoon in them, and brought it to her mouth. She scrunched up her nose, and walked over to the shelf above their stove. Grabbing the salt, pepper, and a little bit of garlic powder. She sprinkled the seasonings into the dish and gave it a good stir.

The doorbell rang, and Courtney looked up. She fixed her blouse and walked into the parlor, she opened the door to reveal a very handsome looking Duncan standing before her. He had a handful of roses in his hand, and he was dressed in a slightly wrinkled tux. His dyed green hair jelled back, and he had that casual smirk playing at his lips.

"Holy crap," Courtney said, smirking slowly "You're actually on time for once,"

Duncan chuckled and slowly handed her the roses, which she brought to her nose and inhaled deeply. "Yeah, figured the first time meeting your parents was a kinda important day. So I actually tried," he said. She stepped aside and let him in, Duncan walked in and looked around at her massive house. Whistling lowly, he turned on his heel and gave her a bigger smirk

"Should have known, the Princess lived in a castle," he teased. Courtney rolled her eyes and shut her door slowly

"It's no castle, but it's what I get for having a lawyer as a Father and a doctor as a Mother," she said, walking into the kitchen to find a vase to put her flowers in. Duncan followed her, still checking out his girlfriend's digs.

Courtney opened a cab nit and pulled out a crystal vase, she slid the flowers into it and brought it over to her sink, she filled it with water a little ways and smiled at her beautiful array of roses.

"So where is everyone? Or are we going to have to sit really awkwardly around a large table with only 4 people at it?" he asked her, slowly leaning against her stainless steel fridge. Courtney set the vase down on the counter and looked at him

"My Mother is upstairs getting changed, she spilled wine on her dress. And my Dad doesn't get out of work until about 2. But everyone else should be arriving soon," Courtney shrugged, she walked back out to the dining room and continued the work she had been doing before Duncan had gotten here.

Duncan noticed how she always referred to her mom as "Mother" never anything else. It just seemed... Cold. As though the woman Courtney called Mother never really showed love. Where as when ever Courtney would speak of her Dad, she always had a smile on her face. He never really questioned why that was. Maybe he'd figure out today.

"Does this make me look chunky, or is it just me?" A rather gorgeous middle-aged woman said, as she entered the room. Wearing a lavender dress that went perfectly with her tan skin. Duncan swallowed hard, it wasn't hard to see where Courtney got all of her good looks from.

"I think that looks nice, I like the color," Courtney said quietly. Setting down the final folded napkin and looking up at the woman. Duncan assumed it was her Mother.

"You must be the Duncan I've heard so much about, it's nice to finally meet you. I'm Mrs. Taint," the woman said, slowly walking over and sticking out a stiff hand to Duncan. Duncan smiled and shook it.
