This was a walk she never thought she'd find herself making. Never would have dreamed of walking down the hallway of a dormitory belonging to one of the most hated contestants in Total Drama History. She was shocked to see that this person was going to the same college as herself, let alone move in just down the hallway.
Courtney swallowed hard, her flip flops were the only thing making a sound in the quiet hallway. She sighed as she stopped in front of the door, she could faintly hear Britney Spears playing behind the door. The door was decorated for the fall, and a white board hung on it.
"Follow me on Insta, or else. You know you wanna" is all that was written on it.
Courtney rolled her eyes and slowly reached up, and knocked lightly on the wooden door.
"Go away Jake! I already said, I don't have sex with the same guy twice in one week!" Heather's voice shouted. Courtney smirked
Unless that guy is Alejandro Courtney thought with a giggle
"Go away-" Heather snapped, opening the door. The wind from the motion blew Courtney's grown out hair across her face. Heather looked at Courtney with a bland look
"Ugh, what do you want?" Heather asked, but moved aside to let the girl in. The two had gotten fairly close since the beginning of the semester. Courtney was surprised at how easy it was to actually talk to Heather about relatable things when she wasn't being such a witch.
Plus, Courtney was the only one who could challenge her with her snarky, witchy remarks. Heather found this respectable. So they became friends.
"Nice to see you too, Heath," Courtney laughed as she walked over and sat on Heather's faux leather chair in the corner of her room. Heather huffed and shut her door.
Heather didn't have a roommate. Well, not anymore. Heather didn't exactly like her roommate, so, in a typical Heather way, she made her roommate's life miserable until she couldn't take it anymore and moved across campus.
Courtney believed Heather had switched the poor girl's shampoo with Nair at some point. Causing her to almost lose all of her hair. But she wasn't too sure.
"What's going on? Usually you're cooped up in your dorm room with your law books. Or more often, cooped up with your boyfriend," Heather said, rolling her eyes as she sat down on her bed.
Courtney smiled but rolled her eyes
"Duncan isn't that bad," Courtney gushed.
"I still can't believe you two actually got back together after All Stars," Heather mumbled, grabbing her laptop. Courtney's smile slowly grew
"Me either,"
Yes, it was true. About 3 months after they had wrapped All Stars, Courtney had decided to visit Duncan in Prison on a whim.
It was mostly to tell him "I told you so"
He had been shocked to see her, telling her he was sorry she lost the million again. They got to talking about everything going on in their lives. How he was set to be released in another month, and she was going off to college in 2 months.
They talked about their past. It was surprising, the topic came pretty easily for the both of them. She didn't want to bring up Gwen. But he ended up doing it anyways. Telling her that they had broken things off, mainly because Gwen couldn't take him constantly talking about Courtney anymore.
But, Courtney already knew most of this. She had watched the whole season already. More than a little surprised by Duncan's interests in her still.
Then, as she visit was winding down, he said something she never imagined him saying in a million years
"I'm sorry," Duncan said quietly, breaking the silence that had fallen on the two. Courtney slowly looked up at him across the table. He was staring down at his hands
"I just realized that I never said that to you," he said, slowly looking up at her "I never actually apologized for hurting you in the first place. And it's been eating away at me for all this time... So.. I'm sorry, Courtney. For everything. I'm so sorry,"
Courtney sat there, in a shocked silence. Her mouth dropped open in surprise. She swallowed hard "You don't understand how long I've waited to hear you say that," she whispered, her voice breaking a little.
Duncan slowly reached across the table and took her tiny, shaking hands into his callused ones. He smiled when he felt how warm they were, the perfect compliment to his freezing ones.
"Courtney-"
"I love you," she choked out. Cutting him off. Duncan's eyes widened in shock. And she felt his grip tighten around her hands. Courtney stayed stiff, scared to hear what he was gonna say next-
"Thank God you said that, cause it'll make what I'm about to say a lot easier," Duncan said. He cleared his throat a few times
"Whenever I get out of here, whether its a month or 6, I want to know you'll be there. Waiting for me," Duncan said, his own voice sounding weak. He watched her as she stiffened, and he looked down
"It's okay, I get it-"
"I'll be there," she said. Cutting him off "I'll be there, don't you worry about that,"
Courtney sighed in happiness as she came back to the present.
"Hello, Earth to Courtney!" Heather snapped her fingers in front of the tan girl's face. Courtney blinked and blushed
"Sorry," she gushed. Heather rolled her eyes
"What is it that you came here for, again?" Heather asked, clearly bored.
Courtney swallowed hard, and kicked at the floor a little. Her face turning red.
"Courtney?" Heather asked, blandly "I don't have all day you know,"
Courtney huffed and looked at her friend "I need your help... To make me look sexy,"
Heather's eyes widened, and she laughed "I'm sorry, what?"
Courtney crossed her arms, annoyed "I need your help to make me look sexy.. Tonight is Duncan and I's second 3 month anniversary. And I actually want this one to count, the last one we had we ended up throwing spaghetti at each other across the restaurant," Courtney said. Heather slowly wiped the tears from her eyes, as she rubbed her sides that hurt from laughing so hard.
Heather looked at Courtney, who was giving her a death glare. Heather sighed a little. She looked down at Courtney's outfit. It was just simply a Oxford Hoodie and white washed skinny jeans with flip flops.
"Oh honey," she shook her head "You're gonna need a lot of work,"
