I've seen all the movie stars in their fancy cars and their limousines
Been high in the Rockies under the evergreens
But I know what I'm needin' and I don't want to waste more time
I'm in a New York State of Mind

After the bright lights of Vegas, Grayson probably could have stood some down time.  But then he remembered how much he loved Bryant Park and the apartment he and Cait shared there.  And New York was becoming familiar.  Familiar was good, after a whirlwind month of new places.  So going to New York was suddenly appealing.

Luke and Rae would be joining them the following week, but Luke was holding a basketball camp in Ohio this week.  And Grayson and Cait had to deal with the wedding planner situation.

Grayson knew that Cait was also planning to put some more time into her proposal for Vail Resorts and he wanted to participate in that process too.  He was still blown away by the concept and he wanted to learn a few things and to support her in her efforts.

Cait seemed a little more relaxed on the flight, seemed glad to leave Vegas behind.  Grayson grinned over at her.  "Glad to get back to New York?"

"Glad to have just you and me for a little while," she returned his smile.  "I know I have to share you sometimes, but I like when I don't have to."

"You'd get sick of me if you were stuck with me all the time," he laughed as he kissed her head.

"No way," she told him.  "Not possible."

"I guarantee you would.  I'd be boring.  I'd have to pull out my collection of dad jokes to keep you entertained." He raised an eyebrow at her now.

"Not the dad jokes."  She feigned horror at him.

"Why'd the rooster go to Chik-Fil-A?" Grayson smirked.

"Grayson, seriously?" She shook her head at him.

"To see a chicken strip." His dorky laugh honked out.

The joke was stupid, but Cait couldn't possibly maintain her scowl. She loved that dorky laugh of his so much.

"How about we find something better for you to do with that mouth than tell dad jokes?" she whispered in his ear.

"Hmm . .  . I don't know.  I've got a lot of good-" But he was cut off when she started to whisper a few suggestions.  "Maybe you're right," he grinned.

"I swear you only love me for the private plane," Cait smirked at him a little later.

"Nun uh," Grayson laughed.  "Although it's convenient, because we would have gotten arrested by now if we flew commercial."  Cait laughed and shook her head at him as the plane touched down.

New York somehow seemed comforting, after weeks of living in a hotel room.  Their apartment was just as they'd left it that afternoon before the draft, only clean, since the cleaning service had been in.  It was evening and they decided on take out and a quiet night.

"Tomorrow we start the interviews," Grayson smiled at her.  "Margaret only scheduled five to start with.  So let's hope one pans out.  But if not, she's already got a list and will schedule more."
