When I grow up, I'm gonna be happy and do what I like to do
Like making noise and making faces and making friends like you
And when we grow up do you think we'll see
That I'm still like you and you're still like me
——When We Grow Up, Diana Ross

"Would you tell her to just admit that you do look like Ted Cruz?" Connor piped up from the backseat.

"He's got a point," Grayson smirked at Cait.

"You do not look anything like Ted Cruz," Cait huffed. "And you two can stop ganging up on me any time."

Grayson and Connor had spent the afternoon playing video games and trash talking each other, while simultaneously picking on Cait, just for good measure.  While Cait was glad they were getting along, the running comedy routine at her expense was getting old.

"C'mon, sis," Connor grinned.  "Tell me about how Ted over there got you to go out with him anyhow.  Did he trip over himself to ask you out?"

Grayson's dorky laugh honked out at that, but Cait turned in her seat to glare at her brother. At Connor's smirk, she stuck her tongue out at him.

"She's just mad that you beat her at skee-ball," Grayson told him. "Don't let her fool you, she's more competitive than either of us."

They'd had fun with Donovan, his girlfriend Deja, and Jordan, Donovan's sister. And now they were headed to the Real Salt Lake game. And Connor was excited about that. Almost as excited as Grayson was.

"If you'd told me you were taking me to this game in the beginning, I probably would have been more pleasant," Connor snarked as Grayson parked the car beside Donovan's.

"So I'm supposed to bribe you to get good behavior?" Cait raised an eyebrow at him.

"Never hurts," Connor grinned. "You need all the help you can get."

"You're not kidding," Cait muttered.

But they found their seats and settled in to watch the game. Grayson and Connor kept up a nonstop conversation, with Donovan and Jordan joining in, which led Cait and Deja to offer to go get drinks for them, since they weren't necessarily soccer fans.

And the game ended in a 1-1 tie, which only caused Cait to once again point out that there were no ties in baseball, thereby making it a far superior sport.  Which in turn caused Connor to drop an ice cube down the back of her sweatshirt.

After the game, they headed home, Grayson and Connor still chattering about soccer. They pulled in and Connor zipped inside to find Tyler. But he was soon ready for bed.

"You all set?" Cait asked as she looked in the office to see him in bed, with Tyler curled up by his feet.

"Yeah," Connor tossed her a tired smile. "Thanks for today, Cait," he added. "I had fun."

"I'm glad," she said quietly.

He looked over at her. "Sometimes I miss my mom," he whispered.

Cait moved into the room, sat on the edge of his bed. "I know how that feels," she nodded.

"But sometimes I'm mad at her too," Connor admitted. "She created this situation. By lying about my father. And by breaking the law."
