Leaving Durham before the Carolina game wasn't easy. But Grayson needed to get back to Salt Lake City for practice and get ready to leave the next day. He didn't want to be jet lagged or tired. So he'd left the night before. So had Luke, who had to play in Atlanta on Friday night.
Cait and Rae were off to New York. Grayson knew that Cait was planning to be back in Salt Lake City either Friday evening or Saturday morning. He would mostly be home for over a week, with only a short, one-game trip to Denver. At least, if he was with the Jazz that would be the case.
With Dante presumably ready to return, Grayson had no idea what would happen. He might be inactive for games. He might wind up back with the Stars.
None of that was very appealing, but he didn't have any control over it. He resigned himself to simply doing the best he could, wherever he wound up.

Cait and Rae had gotten to New York. Cait suddenly realized that she hadn't been there since early December. She missed it.
Once they dropped their bags at the apartment, Cait told Rae that she needed to go see her grandmother. And she headed uptown for tea with Granny Morgan.
She rang the bell and was admitted by the butler. And she realized that while she still didn't like this place, she was actually not unhappy to see her grandmother.
"Well, it's about time," Granny said by way of greeting. But she said it affectionately. "How are you after that horrible accident, dear?"
"I'm fine, Granny," Cait told her. "Elbow is on the way to being healed and everything is good."
"And how is Grayson?" she asked. But before Cait could answer, Granny frowned. "I'm about ready to call that coach of his myself and give him a piece of my mind."
"Don't you dare," Cait frowned at her. "Grayson is doing just fine."
"Can I at least buy that damn newspaper and fire the Jazz beat writers?" she asked.
"Tempting, but no," Cait told her. "I wanted to do that too, but Grayson said I couldn't." Caroline seemed a bit disgruntled by that response. "Look on the bright side, at least they didn't trade Ricky," Cait told her.
"Mildred Worthington would never have recovered," Caroline told her. "We practically had to medicate her for two weeks leading up to the trade deadline."
Cait shook her head, but Caroline continued. "That must have been difficult for you two," she offered.
"It was hard for Grayson, but it's nothing we can control," Cait sighed. "On the spectrum of things we've had to handle, that really isn't that big a deal. If we had to move, we'd have moved," she said with a shrug.
"I suppose," Caroline sighed. "Your father told me about Jared Malloy and I feel responsible. Are you quite all right, darling?"
