You're just like me, you're out your mind
I know it's strange, we're both the crazy kind
You're tellin' me that I'm insane
Boy, don't pretend that you don't love the pain
Oh, she's sweet but a psycho
A little bit psycho

Rae arrived in New York ahead of Luke and went directly to Bryant Park Place, even though it was just past midnight when she got there.  She just had a feeling that Cait was under a lot of pressure and that that, combined with being away from Grayson, could mean that she was headed for one of her meltdowns.

She knew Cait had had a ton of stuff dumped on her. And Rae too had gotten a frantic plea for help from the wedding planner. So she intended to stay in New York for a couple of extra days if need be and try to help. And to see if she could get Cait to go see Grayson again, even if it was just for a day or so.  She had a feeling that the only thing that would help Cait relax and try to focus was time with him.

Which was bananas.  Rae recognized that.  Cait and Grayson were literally the definition of spontaneous combustion.  But somewhere in all the drama and the nuttiness, Grayson had become Cait's port in a storm too. The one person who could make her relax when she got uptight.  It was mind boggling to any normal person, but somehow their particular brand of insanity worked for the two of them.

Rae also knew that Cait had discovered how much she needed Grayson after her miscarriage.  She hadn't been able to deal with that alone.  And that had been a first for her.  They'd talked a little bit about that in Detroit.

Rae found Cait working as the Jazz postgame was on the television. "How about you get some sleep?" she suggested.

"How about you take your own advice?" Cait returned. "If you want to stay here, you can have the bedroom. I can sleep on the couch."

"Negative, ghost rider," Rae chuckled. "I'm headed over to Luke's hotel momentarily. Just wanted to check on you and drop a bag off. Have you been over to see your dad?"

"Took Connor this afternoon," Cait mumbled. "But he keeps questioning me about work and Joan doesn't want him to deal with that stuff yet."

"Well, tomorrow at the office, you and I are going to talk," Rae informed her. "And then we're going to take the afternoon off. We'll meet Luke for a late lunch, then pick up Connor from soccer and go visit your dad before we go to the game."

Cait frowned at that.  "Doesn't sound like a very productive day," she pointed out.

"Margaret got Mitch to cover your afternoon meetings," Rae said firmly.  "No arguments.  Now, you put this away and go to bed.  I'll see you at the office tomorrow."

Cait gave her a funny look.  "Rae, being a pain in the ass is my role in our friendship.  I'm afraid you'll have to come up with something else."

"Bet me, Callahan," Rae stared her down.  "I might not show it often, but I can be every bit as big a pain in the ass as you."

Rae was as good as her word.  She appeared in Cait's office at 10:30 a.m., armed with two cups of coffee.  Margaret nodded at her.  "Go ahead in, honey," she told Rae.  "Maybe you can get her to unwind a little."
