I am a woman in love
And I do anything
To get you into my world
And hold you within
It's a right I defend
Over and over again
What do I do?

Will and Sherry had stayed for tonight's preseason game, but would be leaving the next day. They'd be back in a couple of weeks for the start of the regular season.
And Grayson had been busy with training camp still, so Cait had spent some time showing his parents around Salt Lake City. She did some work for a couple of hours in the morning and then took them to do a little sightseeing.
She also got some calls about her charity project and was excited to get it underway. Registrations for the program were coming in, but there had been a lot of questions too. Most of them were questions from parents who wanted Cait to work with their kids, even though they didn't meet the criteria for the program. Jared told Cait that there had been a steady stream of those calls and asked whether she wouldn't consider doing some private lessons. But she couldn't commit to that with her other responsibilities. And that wasn't how she wanted to spend her time.
And she'd had a long conversation with her father about taking Connor to see his mother. Jack had admitted that he was afraid he'd have difficulty hiding his animosity toward Gillian from their son. And that he didn't want Connor to realize how much resentment he harbored, so he'd suggested that Cait take him and Connor had latched onto the idea.
Since Connor didn't have school on Friday for the long weekend, he'd be arriving in Utah on Friday morning, Jack and Joan deciding that they'd fly out with him and then go to the ranch for the weekend after dropping Connor with Cait.
That meant that Connor would be with Cait for Friday night's home preseason game, which she appreciated, since Will and Sherry would be gone.
But tonight, Grayson had another preseason game and Cait was again seated in the arena with his parents, nervously chewing her bottom lip and hoping he played well. Tonight's game was against the Raptors, so it was an actual NBA team.
And Grayson was going to be expected to play some point, because Dante Exum was out. Cait knew he was a bit nervous about knowing all the plays and had been studying them as much as he could.
The nerves definitely showed. Grayson had a couple of turnovers and a quick foul. And missed his first two threes, which Cait knew wouldn't help.
It didn't get a whole lot better in the second half, although he did finally make a three in the fourth quarter, followed by a dunk. Cait hoped that would make him feel better. But she knew that there would be nights like this. Grayson needed to look at it as a learning experience. But she worried that he'd beat himself up. He needed to keep his perspective. She watched him leave the floor, hoping he'd watch the film the next day and then move on.
Cait had no idea that there was someone else in the arena watching Grayson every bit as closely as she was.

After the game, Sherry again insisted that Cait wait for Grayson and ride home with him. They got home and Cait headed to the kitchen to make Grayson a snack. He was sitting on the counter talking to her when he suddenly jumped off.
