I got my toes in the water
Ass in the sand
Not a worry in the world
A cold beer in my hand
Life is good today

Before they went on vacation, Grayson had to attend the mandatory NBA rookie transition program and do the rookie photo shoot. That gave him a chance to catch up with Marvin, Wendell and Gary.

And it was fun, if a bit surreal, to put on a Jazz uniform again, the real one this time.  Grayson was still adjusting to putting on a jersey that had four new letters on the front.

The transition program had been pretty surreal too. But a lot of it was stuff that Coach K had impressed on him a long time ago. Not just the media stuff, but what coaches expect, how to handle things off the court. And personal relationships.

Grayson could zone out a bit through the lecture on safe sex and proper disposal of a condom. He had no intention of ever needing that information.

And he'd had to kick Marvin and Gary under the table a couple of times and give them his dad face when they got a little giggly. Wendell just looked uncomfortable.

But it was fun to be back with those guys. Grayson was still coming to grips with being an NBA player, the reality hitting him in small doses.

And after it was over, he'd given the three of them a lecture of his own and reminded them that if they wound up paying child support for a kid they hadn't intended to have, they'd have to deal with Cait, which had put an abrupt end to the giggling.

"Just because we're on different teams doesn't mean she isn't gonna keep track of you jokers," Grayson told them pointedly.

"Oh shit," Marvin wiped the smile off his face.  "She'd plant one of them pointy toed shoes so far up my ass I wouldn't walk right for a year."

"I'd rather face my own mother than her," Wendell admitted with a shudder.

"Yeeesh," Gary breathed out. "That wouldn't be pretty, would it?"

"Not at all," Grayson pointed a finger at each of them in turn. "And I'm not gonna hold her back either, so y'all best use the heads on your shoulders, y'know?"

"We got ya, Cap," Gary grinned.

Cait stepped off of the plane and onto the tarmac in Kona with a sigh of relief. She and Grayson were finally on vacation. Although they'd talked about taking a vacation with Luke and Rae, they'd deferred that for a little while and it was just the two of them.

As much as she loved both Luke and Rae, she had a feeling that she and Grayson wouldn't always have a lot of time alone together and she was looking forward to this.  She knew that she'd spent the last two months, or longer, in a state of near-constant stress.  She wanted to relax.  She needed it.

Grayson collected their bag and took her hand and they made their way to the car waiting to take them to the house that belonged to Cait's father.  "What's on the agenda?" Grayson asked as they settled in for the short ride.
