Yup. Don't start the song yet
You sit at your desk watching the minute hand on your wall clock tick by. Never did you think you would be spending your spring break of senior year waiting oh so patiently for it to be over. A whole week off school with nothing to do. Go figure. You sigh looking down at the pages of your finals review you had completed earlier and thought about how you and Joey used to do AP homework together when he was around. You missed him more than anything, maybe even a little more than Charles. He kept in contact like he promised, but you were preparing yourself for the day when that stopped. It wasn't a shock to you when it actually happened. In fact you had expected it to be much sooner than when it was. He's off living the college life now. New friends, girls probably. Not that you ever thought of him like that.
Ring ring
The sound of your phone cuts off the deep thinking you had started drifting off to, and you rush to your bed to go answer it.
"Hello"
"Hey babygirl"
"Joey, hey"
You say trying your best to sound excited, but you were never a good liar.
"Aww what's wrong"
You shake your head for some reason even though you knew he couldn't see you.
"Nothing, just homework"
"Y/n"
"...I just miss you"
"I miss you too"
He sighs.
"But I also know your on spring break and it would be the perfect chance to visit"
You felt yourself smile, although once again he couldn't see it.
"I don't think I can"
You say.
"You can come stay in my apartment, none of my roommates are here...please, I wanna see you"
"I'll ask"
You say while getting up and going downstairs. You put the phone on speaker and walk to the kitchen where your mom was gathering ingredients near an open cookbook.
"Mom"
You say to get her attention and she turns, smiling when she sees the contact you were on call with.
"Joey wants to know if I can come visit him"
You explain and she thinks it over for a second.
"Hello Joseph"
She says into the phone and he laughs momentarily.
"Hi Mrs, you should let her come"
He says persuasively before going into a whole long explanation about how you could stay at his on campus apartment and he wouldn't let you out of his sight.
"She'll be safe with me"
He says and you nod at your mom. She smiles.
"Then I guess Y/n will be seeing you soon"
She says and you both cheer excitedly.
"Thanks Mom"
You shout while walking out the kitchen, and from behind you heard her sigh and say "ah young love". You laugh to yourself and spend the rest of the day excitedly packing for your trip, still talking to Joey as you multitasked.
