That awkward moment when you lowkey abandon your book because school consumes your entire life...he he...whoops

"Morning"

You hear Jacobs voice vibrating on your neck as he talks, his morning voice deeper than his usual one.

"Morning"

You finally answer back yawning quietly.

"Told you I could keep you up all night"

You exhale deeply and he chuckles, knowing that as a typical sign of your annoyance with something he said.

"So...are you staying?"

You pause before answering.

"I don't know...the whole purpose of coming out her was to see Joey..."

You trail off and he finishes your sentence.

"Well now your purpose can be to see me"

You feel him smile against your neck and hum in agreement. The only thing you were worried about was running into Joey, and you didn't even know why. The breakup was mutual.

"Well"

Jacob prompts you for an answer.

"Huh?"

"I asked if you wanted to get up"

You stretch lightly before snuggling back into his chest as his arm wraps closer around you.

"No"

You answer letting your eyes close lazily as he places a kiss on your neck.

"Figured so"

~~~
"I'm hungry"
You complain laying your hand over Jacobs chest.
"Not my problem"
He answers without looking away from his phone.
"Jacob"
"What"
He sighs.
"Just go downstairs and get something"
"But J-"
Just the almost mention of Joeys name catches his attention immediately and he pulls you into his lap facing him.
"Look...you two are over now, just go down there and if you see him run away or something I don't know"
He says making you laugh, but you nod and stand up fixing the shirt and adidas leggings you had changed into after showering before opening Jacobs room door and heading downstairs.
~~~

You sit patiently on the counter waiting for the water to boil so you could cook your ramen noodles. You become so engrossed in watching your feet swing back and forth on the counter, that you don't hear the footsteps approaching until they come to a stop in the kitchen doorway, catching your attention almost immediately. Your head shoots up, and you realize this is one of those moments where you wish you weren't so curious.

"Hey"

Joey says awkwardly scratching the back of his neck. You hum quietly in respond and go back to looking at the floor. His footsteps pick up again until you see him in front of you, hand reaching out to lift your chin.

"It doesn't have to be this awkward"

You shrug in response.

"Are you just not talking to me anymore"

You shrug again and he rolls his eyes laughing slightly.

"Y'know that's what I love about y-"

He starts to say and you smile but both cut yourselves off as reality hits.

"Never mind"

He says looking away. You exhale to try and calm your nerves before speaking again.

"Joey I-"

He cuts you off placing a quick kiss on your lips. Out of habit you kiss back, but that's all it was...a habit.

"Anything"

He asks and you shake your head no. He sighs.

"Me neither, but if I'm being honest part of me doesn't want to let you go"

You nod understanding exactly how he felt. He was your first boyfriend, first love, First everything pretty much. He'd been in flings with girls, but he always told you that you were his only serious relationship. It would be way harder to let something like that go and you both knew it.

"Same, but it's just not-"

You happen to look up and see the one person who shouldn't be hearing this conversation standing in the doorway. Joey, noticing your focus change, turns to see Jacob watching from the other side of the room.

"Oh"

He says and you instantly felt your heart break even more. He looks form Joey, to you, and then back to Joey.

"What the hell Joseph"

"We're just talking, you can chill"

Joey answers seeming to gain an attitude of his own.

"Sure, because I didn't just see you kiss"

"Jacob it's not what-"

You try to interrupt but he addresses you this time.

"No it's exactly what I think! You two aren't even over each other! I don't appreciate being lied to, and I don't appreciate being used!"

He turns to walk away and stops to look at you over his shoulder.

"Text me when I'm not your rebound"

He says in a monotone voice, you knew he was upset and you wished you could fix it but your own drama was in the way. Joey sighs and gives you an apologetic look before walking out the kitchen through the other exit. You sigh sitting back against the counter just as the water begins to boil.

You ask and I deliver, I also kind of wanted to write this too so here it is.
