Matt's POV: After spending the past 30 minutes getting groceries, I was finally glad to be at the check out line. That's when I saw Severide there with Stella. I looked at him and saw him put in some wine. "How much wine we going to have at the New Year's Eve party? Or is that to toast to your engagement?" Severide then turned around and smiled at me. "What you doing here?" I smiled at him. "You're looking at what a family needs on a daily basis. You see Hermann?"

Stella nodded and smiled. "Severide didn't like how much time we spend there. Cindy literally tugged me aside because she wanted to see it." I smiled when she said that. "By the way, you can thank Gabby for helping him pick a ring. He showed me some pictures. You should've seen some of his first options. Gabby vetoed a few of them." Stella nodded and smiled. "Listen, we are next but...we will see you on the New Year's Eve shift/party." I smiled when she said that.

That's when they moved up and went to check out. I then looked at Severide and smiled. "You guys by any chance have a rewards card?" Severide turned to look at me and shook his head. "No, why?" I smirked. "Mind swiping mine? It goes to free groceries after a while. Need it with the diapers." Severide nodded and looked at the cashier. "Is that okay? He's our friend and we want to help him and his wife with points." The cashier nodded. "In this day in age, whatever helps."

I then went to give Severide my phone and got the cashier to scan my card. "Just make sure you don't redeem any of the points. Those are mine to redeem." Severide chuckled and agreed, putting the rest of their things on the counter while Stella went to pack the bags. "So Stella, how did you Lieutenant test go?" Stella nodded and smiled when I asked. "It hasn't happened yet but, I am feeling pretty confident. Just the last step before Captain Stella Kidd." I smiled.

Severide then turned to look at her. "You mean Captain Stella Severide?" Stella then looked at him. "Nice try. I am not changing my name! You should know that already Kelly." She then slapped his cheek and moved to pack the bags more. I laughed at them and nodded. Kelly didn't like that though and turned to look at me. "Who's side are you on?" I looked at him and smiled. "I'm on the side that won't get me in trouble with my wife. So, Stella's!"

Stella smirked when I said that. "You're trying to get brownie points with Gabby aren't you?" I shook my head and smiled. "Trust me, I do that just by helping with Matteo. We have it under control. Now, one this is all over...don't be shy on offering to babysit. You guys need the practice when it comes to kids. I am sure that Severide here is getting baby fever seeing as both me and Cruz are either parents or are pending parents."

Severide nodded and smiled. "Oh yes, I am totally excited to have a kid that needs you to wake up in the middle of the night for a feeding. Not yet." I sighed when he said that. "Just don't wait too long. We want our kids to be friends right? I don't want to have a 5 year age gap. Also, we are not getting any younger Severide. I am going to be in my mid-50s when Matteo is done college. So, think about that. You want to see your kids graduate college."

Stella nodded and agreed. "He makes a great point Kelly. I would rather be a young mom when my kids graduate high school and college rather than an old one." I nodded and agreed. "You want to be like Antonio? My niece and nephew are graduating high school this and next year. And then he has twins coming. So, imagine that. Think about how much older he is than me. He's in his early 50s. That means, he'll be in his early 70s when his twins graduate college."

That's when I heard Antonio walk up behind me. "Why exactly are you speaking about my age to your friends?" I then turned to look at him and sighed. "Just trying to explain to Kelly and Stella that they shouldn't wait too long to start having kids. I mean, we are the same age so...I am going to be in my mid-50s when Matteo is done college. He doesn't want to be in his 60s when that happens. You really want to be like Hermann?" Kelly then shook his head.

"Who says that we need to be married before we have kids?" Stella chuckled and shook her head before grabbing his hand. "See you New Year's Eve Matt. And say hi to Sylvie for us Antonio. Oh, and congrats again on your engagement." Antonio nodded and smiled as they walked away. I then moved to start checking out while talking to him. "Sorry about that. I should've used Boden as an example rather than you. It's just...your name was on my mind more."

Antonio chuckled and nodded. "Let me guess, because Gabby is on your mind?" I nodded and smiled. "She's always on my mind. Oh, by the way...can you thank Eva ahead of time for watching Matteo on New Year's Eve. We have to work." Antonio nodded and smiled. "I told my kids that they have to help however they can. They understand because of the health crisis and the fact that Matteo has two working parents. How's it on ambulance anyways?"

I smiled when he asked. "I love it. Working with the wife everyday is great. By the way, are you going to want a Bachelor party before you get married? I need to know that after all so that I can book a night off ahead of time." Antonio sighed. "We are thinking of getting married after the babies are born, so no Bachelor party for me unfortunately." I nodded and agreed. "Well, we could always do it at the same time as your baby shower. When is that anyways?"

Antonio sighed again. "We aren't having one because of the pandemic."
