One Chicago: Health First Part 3

Chapter 1038

Erin's POV: After making our way upstairs to bed, I walk over to my side of the bed and go to grab my PJs. I don't care what Jay says, I am wearing them tonight. I am not really comfortable having sex with him anymore. Sure, he says I am beautiful even though I am more than half-way through the pregnancy, it still feels weird having sex with him. At the start of my pregnancy, it was fine because we could still get close but not anymore. Now there literally is something in between us. At least this something is better than secrets. 

After grabbing my PJs, I was about to go to the washroom when I turned around and ran into Jay who was shirtless and just wearing his jeans. Setting his shirt down on the bed, I felt him walk up to me. "You're wearing them tonight aren't you?" I sighed as I put my hand on his chest and nodded. "Sorry, you may say I am beautiful..." Jay then grabbed my neck and rubbed my cheek. "You are beautiful Erin." I smiled and blushed. "I just don't feel it when this is in between us." I then moved to rub my stomach and sighed.

Jay understood and nodded as he went to rub my stomach. "If you want, I can wear my sweats." I nodded and smiled. "You can wear them tomorrow too since we are working from home." Jay agreed and smiled before leaning down to kiss me. "I am so glad that both Antonio and Hank agreed we could do that." I then bit my lip and sighed. "Hank doesn't know. He knows I might work from home but...not the team." Jay then sighed and rubbed my arm.

"You want to call him?" I nodded and then moved to hug him. "I want to make sure it's okay with him. I know we are the current heads with Antonio but, I would rather work here. I am more comfortable and it's easier on the baby. Plus, there's nothing like working from the comfort of your bed with your shirtless husband holding you in his arms." Jay smiled when I said that and then rubbed my arms while kissing my forehead. "I am wearing a shirt tomorrow because we are going to be on camera talking to people. Anyways, Hank might join us to start the day."

I was confused when Jay said that and looked up at him. "You are going to let him talk to the team?" Jay sighed and nodded. "I want to let him tell what happened to everybody. It's not really our story to tell." I nodded and agreed before biting my lip. "How about you call your brother and ask him if that's a good idea? Then, you can change into your sweats." Jay nodded and agreed as he went to grab his phone from his jean pockets. "I am going to do this right now. How about you get changed and I will be back?" I nodded and let him go.

Jay's POV: After walking away to go call my brother, I hit his number on my phone and put it up to my ear. I just hoped he was still at the hospital. That's when I heard him answer. "Dr. Halstead, Gaffney-University Emergency Room." I then realized that I must've called his work number. "Sorry, meant to call your cell phone." Will then chuckled. "It's fine Jay. What's up? You calling to check on Hank?" I liked the idea. "Yes, and I wanted to know if he could do a video call tomorrow."

Will sighed. "It's not a good idea. We can't have him stressed or get him worked up. I know what you are trying to do and as his doctor, I am not going to allow it. Sorry Jay." I sighed and understood. "I understand Will." That's when I heard Erin come out of the closet in her sweats. Looking at me, she spoke up. "He can't do it?" I shook my head. "Stress." Erin nodded and understood. "I am going to brush my teeth. Be back soon." She then walked away and I sighed, having a feeling that Erin is going to be disappointed.

"Let me guess, Erin was hoping that he could talk to the team before shift tomorrow?" I sighed. "I just couldn't read her that well if she's disappointed or not that we can't do it." I decided to put the phone on speaker to get changed into my sweats. Taking off my pants, I listened to Will. "Listen, if it was tonight...I would say no. However, stuff can change overnight." I didn't like when he said that. "In a positive way right?" Will then understood what I meant. "I'm on speakerphone aren't I?" I sighed. "Sorry, just getting changed for bed." I then went to put my jeans in the hamper before grabbing my sweats to put them on.

"I get it, hard to do while you're talking to someone. But of course, stuff can get better overnight. But right now, I wouldn't recommend it. Plus, if I let him do the opening talk...he'll try and convince me to allow him to take control of the unit from a distance." I agreed with him because that is definitely something Hank would do. "But listen, I need to go okay? My shift is almost over and I want to check on him one last time before me and Natalie leave. Oh and tomorrow, we have a doctor's appointment. So don't call before 10 if you need to talk to Hank." I agreed and nodded. "Okay, let me know how the scans go." Will agreed. "Talk tomorrow."

I then went to hang up before setting my phone down on my side table's wireless charger. Once that was done, I decided to walk over to the washroom to talk to Erin so that I could see how she was doing. "You disappointed that Hank can't speak to the team tomorrow morning?" Erin sighed and turned to look at me. "It's disappointing but, I understand." I then nodded and smiled as I walked up to her. I then leaned down to kiss her softly. "Go lay down okay? I'll be right there. Maybe find us a movie we can watch?" Erin nodded and walked away to get in bed.

I sighed as she walked away before grabbing my toothbrush so that I could get ready for bed.
