Matt's POV: When Antonio said that he isn't planning on having a baby shower, I wasn't having it. He has been so generous to us...I wanted to do the same in return. "Oh, that isn't happening. Just because there's a pandemic doesn't mean you can't have a baby shower." Antonio then turned to look at me. "You tryin' to get my sister and your son sick with COVID?" I chuckled. "Calm down Antonio, I never said that everybody would be there. I mean, me, Gabby and Matteo would obviously be there considering we are family but...we can always do a virtual shower."

Antonio then thought about it and nodded. "I guess that works." I smiled and looked at him. "Antonio, you need to calm down and relax okay? Believe me when I say this Antonio, I am making smart decisions. You don't need to worry about me putting either Gabby or Matteo at risk for COVID. Remember, your kids and my sister have all had COVID. Oh, and Matteo is our miracle baby that we do not plan on risking." Antonio smiled and agreed.

I then looked at them all. "Listen, how about you all help me not bring COVID home and we move this conversation outside? I'm parked in the grocery pick up area." Severide nodded and agreed. "Good idea." I then went to grab the groceries I already paid for and carried them outside with me so that I could leave the grocery store. While I did feel safe around Antonio and Severide, it was the story that had me a bit more nervous considering it wasn't just family and friends that went there.

Once we were all outside, I smiled as I went to open the back of the van before putting the groceries in. Once that was done, I went to close it again when I heard Severide speak up. "I've been meaning to ask man. What happened to your pickup that you used to use for work?" I sighed and looked at him. "I had to sell it. This is what I use now. And it's also what Antonio is going to have to get soon." Antonio nodded and sighed. "Goodbye sports car."

I then looked at him. "Oh shut up Antonio, you get to drive a Cadillac as your car at work. I wouldn't be complaining. Meanwhile, I had to sell some of my really good, expensive tools that I bought to try and make more money so that I could buy a van. Now, I need to save up to buy them again which is going to take a long time. Which then means less income when it comes to construction jobs. Not that I'm getting many anyways."

Antonio nodded and agreed. "I understand what you mean, everybody is scared to get close to even me. I mean, we are police and people are scared of us." Severide then looked at him. "That's not entirely your fault. It's also the fault of those cops in Minnesota. What side of the line are you guys on? Just based on the video, I am shocked that he hasn't pled guilty. I mean, you don't need to be a cop or criminal lawyer to know that was murder." I then bit my lip and teared up a bit. "God, that was actually really hard to watch." I then whipped my eyes and sighed.

Antonio was confused. "Why was it so hard to watch Matt?" I sighed and looked at him. "Remember, I had an African American child for a while. So, I couldn't help but picture his face on George Floyd's body and his little sweet voice being the one calling out for his mom. That haunted me for a while even when I wasn't with Gabby." He nodded and understood. "I promise that won't happen with Matteo. I already told CPD that my nephew is Matteo Casey. If they ever hear that name, they are to contact me."

I smiled when he said that. "I hope Matteo never has to use it. I hope that him having a white father maybe helps him. However, I know that is unlikely to happen. He already has skin that's in the middle of me and Gabby." That's when I heard my phone ring. "Speaking of Gabby." I then went to answer and smiled. "Hey babe." I then listened to her. "Hey, just wondering where you're at. Thought you'd be back by now. Matteo is napping so if you want help with the stuff...now's a good time to come home."

I agreed and smiled. "Of course, be right home. Love you." Gabby then replied. "Love you too." I then hung up and smiled at Antonio. "I need to get going. Matteo is down for a nap and if I go home now, Gabby can help me put stuff away." Antonio nodded and agreed. "Then you better get going." I smiled at him and then looked at Stella. "Tell Gabby I said hi okay? And we will see you on New Year's Eve." Kelly and Stella then nodded as I closed the van.

I then went to get in the driver's seat so that I could make my way home with the groceries.
