Meanwhile, back in Chicago with Matt & Gabby
Gabby's POV: Walking into the apartment after getting home from the groceries, I smiled when I saw Matt and Matteo sitting in the living room together. Matt looked like he was asleep and I couldn't deny that it was a nice sight. I just hoped that he was comfortable and Matteo wasn't bothering him. Quietly closing the door behind me, I decided to set the groceries down in the kitchen before walking over to the living room so that I could get Matteo from Matt's lap and let him sleep more comfortably. Matteo was awake and would probably wake him up.

Unfortunately, I plan to take Matteo away so that he didn't wake him up backfired because I ended up waking Matt up. "Thanks for waking me up." I sighed and looked at him. "I was going to put him down so that you could relax on the couch and not have him wake you up." Matt nodded and agreed, looking up at me and smiling. "Lucky for you, I would rather cuddle up to you any day." I smiled when he said that and nodded as I leaned over to kiss him softly. "We are staying out here okay? Just move to the corner. Matteo can play on the ground."

Matt nodded and agreed. "Want me to grab him again and get him set up?" I nodded and smiled, giving Matteo to him. "You feed him recently?" Matt nodded and smiled. "Right before I dozed off. So, it had to be within the time you were done. Why were you gone so long anyways?" I smiled at him. "I ran into my mom at the store and we chatted for what was supposed to be 5 minutes but, ended up being 30 minutes." Matt nodded and smiled.

"How's she doing with the isolating and stuff?" I sighed and turned to look at him. "She misses being with the family. She wants to see her grandchildren more." Matt understood and then sighed as he got up. He then walked over to me and moved to wrap his arms around me while I put my hands on his chest. "I am sure every grandmother wants that." I nodded and got where he was coming from. Feeling his hand on my back, I sighed as we held each other close.

I then felt Matt leave a kiss on my head while I rubbed his chest. "I promise, when this clears up we are going to have a huge first birthday party for Matteo where our entire families and friends can get together. It will be less of a birthday party and more like a reunion." I chuckled and smiled as I looked up at him, loving that idea. "Listen, as much as I love the idea of just having you hold me here for a while...he needs to eat. So, you pick. Matteo or groceries?"

Matt smiled as he grabbed my neck. "You go feed him. I've been snuggling up to him for a while now and he probably wants some time with his mom." I chuckled and nodded as I walked away to the fridge so that I could get him a bottle ready. "Can you make another bottle when you're done? I have to make one since we haven't been here in a few days." Matt nodded and agreed. "Sure thing. Now, just go relax and feed him. I can take care of all this." I nodded and agreed, walking away to the living room so that I could feed Matteo.

Matt's POV: Once Gabby left to go feed Matteo, I went to open the bags of groceries to see we got a few extra snacks as well as some chicken. "You want Fajitas tonight or tomorrow?" Gabby looked up at me. "It's actually for New Year's Eve. I want to bring it to the firehouse. We can do shish kabobs or something with it. Since we are going to be working with our friends that night, we are going to do a New Year's Eve party at the firehouse."

I nodded and agreed. "He's going to Antonio's for New Year's Eve right?" Gabby thought about it and nodded. "Yes, Eva is watching him there. But, I am sure that Sylvie will help her too. We have to be at the firehouse since they are going to have 2 ambulances again. Since it's New Year's Eve, they want to be prepared." I smiled when he said that. "Have I already told you how much I am enjoying working ambulance with you? It's fun."

Gabby smiled as she turned her head to look at me and nodded. "I feel the same way. Also makes me feel a lot better when we are working. I feel like my stress has gone down a lot more compared to the first time around?" I nodded and understood why. "That's because you are literally working right next to me on all the calls." Gabby smiled and nodded as I went to put the milk away. That's when I saw she bought diapers. "Diapers, all in the nursery?"

Gabby thought about it and then shook her head. "Can you fill up the baby bag with some and then the rest can go into the nursery? I think we either used the last one or we are getting low." I nodded and agreed, grabbing my box cutter before going to open the box of diapers. Once that was done, I walked over to the diaper bag and grabbed it so that I could put a few in when I saw that we had some dirty clothes in here. "Remind me to start emptying to the dirty clothes."

Gabby chuckled. "You always forget." I nodded and agreed, setting the dirty clothes to the side before putting the diapers in. Once that was done, I got up and carried the dirty outfits to the laundry. I put them right into the washer since we always did more colors than whites. That's when I saw a shiny object attached to one of Gabby's shirts. Bending down to grab it, I saw that it was the necklace I gave her for Christmas. Thank god I caught it. "Hey Gabby, you missing something?"

Gabby was confused when I asked that. "No...why?" I then looked at her. "Check your neck." Gabby then went to check her neck and saw that the necklace was gone. "No...please god." I then saw her get worried and walked over to her. "Gabby, lean your head back and give me access to your neck." She looked up at me, confused but just did what I asked. I then went to put her necklace back on.
