CH.92 Preparations
(Amala POV)
The past couple of days have been something else, with getting everything together and also faking King Tut's death idea as well.
Things had to go smoothly, and that's exactly how I wanted them to go. I didn't want anything to happen to make us end up doing extra work.
Although that was the case, that didn't stop me from being worried about Tut at all; I was on him like white on rice. Tut was not out of my sight for a lot of time.
Just because I was planning his death, well, his fake death didn't mean that somebody else wasn't working hard to plan the real one. Tut kept telling me to ease it down a bit, but I just couldn't help it.
He was coming to my era like he would be in the era that I came from; I feel like I wouldn't even be able to ease down about anything until we got there.
I had a good feeling that no one in the room that we held the conference would be someone who killed Tut, but that still didn't give me a sense of ease.
"Mala, are you okay?" Tut asked me.
I let out a giggle and raised my head to look at him.
"You're always asking me if I'm okay," I said to him; he raised a brow to that.
"That's because sometimes, whenever I look at you, it looks like something is bothering you or something is on your mind. So, of course, I have to ask if you're okay or not." Tut said.
"I'm fine, don't worry. Is everything done and ready?" I asked Tut; he continued to look at me as if he wasn't buying that I was okay but nodded his head anyway.
"Yes, everything is done and ready; your plan is going accordingly, so no more worrying okay?" Tut said.
I gave him a nod.
"Okay, good, we'll be leaving to my era tomorrow. Is there anything you want or need to do today in your era? Visit people you haven't seen in a while and would like to see them? Or maybe anything else that you need to do?" I asked him; I didn't want Tut to have any unfinished business.
He tilted his head and looked like he was thinking.
"No, I don't believe so. Everyone I wanted to see, I've already seen and spoke to. There's no one else I could think of." He said.
"Well, all your brothers know that you'll be leaving and not, you know, be killed, but your sister doesn't—the one your father wanted to make you marry," I said to Tut.
I stared at him as he shrugged his shoulders.
"Oh well." He said.
"Uh, you don't care?" I asked him.
"No, not really. I was bothered that she didn't go against my father when he used to bring up the fact that he wanted us to marry, and to be honest, I found it strange that she wasn't against it. It didn't matter to me that we didn't share the same mother. I know some people do it, marry their siblings, but I was not into that and never will be." Tut said.
"I was never close to her anyway, and neither do I care to tell her. She can just be in the unknown with this whole thing, besides. I'm sure her mother got word that my father is dead, so my sister will know soon about that too." Tut said.
I nodded my head, understanding what he meant.
"You know, in my time, Queen Nefertiti was known to be one of the strongest woman leaders in Ancient Egypt. Yet I didn't hear the same about your sister, just like I heard about her mother." I said to Tut.
He shrugged his shoulder. "Queen Nefertiti is someone who made a name for herself amongst the people and the region, so I am not surprised that even in your era, she is seen as a successor. She is someone not to mess with. Yet, what you said earlier about her religion sounded like it fit the description. Things happened to you if you didn't want to stay in." Tut said, and I nodded my head.
"It was similar to a cult," I said, and Tut nodded his head.
"Yes, that word and my father was in on it as well, but a little too extreme," Tut said.
"He truly felt invincible, and truthfully, he almost was," Tut said, letting out a sigh.
"Well, you and this era don't have to worry about this anymore," I said to him.
"Yes, we don't, but yes. As I was saying. I don't have anyone else I need to speak to or hang around with before we leave. I've done that with everyone I felt the need to and everyone important to me." Tut said, smiling at me.
"Thanks for asking though, it means a lot that you care about things like these," Tut said.
"Of course I do; I don't want you having any regrets. About anything, not even something small. Especially when it could be prevented." I said, smiling at him.
"I want you to be at ease," I said.
Tut came closer to me and pressed a kiss on my forehead.
"Just as I want you to be at ease as well." He said, causing me to let out a low laugh.
"So, are you ready to start your fake death?" I asked him.
"Oddly enough, yes. I mean, it does sound strange actually to say, but I am ready to fake my death. Don't get me wrong. I know I could never be a king in your era, I would be a regular person, and it would take a lot to get used to." Tut said, shrugging his shoulders.
"I don't think it's something I'll get used to in a day; it might even take a couple of times for me. It'll be a whole new world. The luxury I had as a King I won't have it in your era, yes that is hard, but it is all worth it because I get to be with you." Tut said, causing me to get teary.
"If it makes you feel even better, you'll always be a King to me," I said, causing Tut to let out a snort of laughter.
"Yes, that does make me feel better, and you'll always be a Goddess and Queen to me as well, Mala." He said, kissing my cheek.
"Good, and don't you ever forget it," I told him; I watched Tut roll his eyes with a smirk on his face.
"Now, let's go fake your death," I said to him, taking his hand.
"You sound excited about this." He said.
"Of course, I'm Amala. I'm always excited about all my plans."
