Chapter 7

When the meal was done Charley got serious. "I think it is time for you to tell me what is going on with you."

Melody looked down at her empty plate. She slowly moved her eyes up to meet his. "Can it wait until we get back to the room?"

"If that makes you more comfortable." They left the restaurant to head back to their rooms. Melody walked very slow, not wanting to have this talk. "There is a bench and little sitting area outside over there by our rooms. Why don't we sit there in the fresh air and talk. It might be easier than in a closed space like our rooms."

Reluctantly Melody sits on the bench. Taking a deep breath, she starts. "My dad is the beta of our pack; my brother will be taking over in the next three months. They hate me all because I look like my mom. Dad and Mom were not fated mates, they just loved each other very much and got mated."

"They became chosen mates. Lots of wolves do that these days."

"Things were good at home until I turned ten. She met her fated mate; the pull was too strong I guess, she decided to leave us for him. It was hard on Dad they had been together for twelve years."

"After twelve years with you father, wow. That must have been hard for him to take."

"It damn near killed my dad and my brother. They were never the same after she left. She is the reason they hate me. The older I got the more I looked like her, so they treated me like shit. Soon everyone believed that I would do what she did. She didn't only leave our family she left the pack high and dry."

"Your Luna could have filled in for her until someone else could have been appointed to take over her responsibilities. Even the gamma's mate could of helped."

"Our Luna passed away years ago. Mom was filling in for her. She took on her responsibility and the Luna's. Her leaving hurt the pack really bad. By the time I was twelve I was made to work in a position that was less than an omega and treated like I was worthless. With Dad and my brother treating me so bad the rest of the pack joined in."

"I'm sorry they did that to you. It shouldn't of matter how bad your father felt, he had no right to take it out on you."

"Our senior class trip was Thursday. Bonnie, my only friend in the pack, helped me go on our class trip. Friday, I turned 18, the alpha's son just came home to find out I was his mate. I was afraid he wouldn't want me. He said he did, and he loved me. I was so happy someone wanted me for me. He said all the right things, I felt loved and wanted. I wanted that so much. The feeling was short lived. We got up the next morning and everything changed."

"Don't tell me he rejected you. That sleezy piece of horse shit."

"I wish that is all he did. What he did was a lot worse. My brother was there and the two of them said that I could have a house on pack land and live there comfortable as long as I followed their rules."

"Their rules?"

"I was to be his breeder. Anytime he wanted a pup or just wanted me, he would come to the house and use me. He would pick out his own Luna and she could raise my pups. If I didn't like it, he would put me in the dungeons and still breed me like I am nothing." Tears are running down her face.

"This is your so call mate that wanted to treat you like that. I have never heard of such a thing. Alphas take pride in their mates, they cherish them."

"He said if I was good my pups could visit me like I was their aunt. He had to reject me though and I had to accept his rejection so he could mark and mate his chosen Luna. I pretended to go along with this if I could finish school and my class trip."
