Chapter 63

Melody opened her eyes to see Anthony's face next to her. His eyes were closed, making him seem at peace. Not long after, his eyes fluttered open, seeing her watching him sleep. "Good morning, beautiful. How is my mate this morning?"

"Good morning, mate. It is nice to have you home. Even better having you holding me." Melody kissed him, then ran her hand down his chest, slowly running her fingers around his nipples. Her lips followed the path of her hand. Anthony growled in anticipation. An hour later they came out of their room dressed, both a little flushed, giggling as they got ready to leave the house.

Cameron came to the front door, "I need to talk to you both."

Anthony, not knowing what is going on, didn't understand why his father was so aggravated. "Let's talk in the dining room, no one is up yet."

Cameron sat next to Melody. "Remember the phone call last night, how we didn't know how they knew about Bonnie. The guards checked to see if someone was out there. They found claw marks and footprints only twenty-five feet from the gate. Anyone that close could hear what was said."

"One of you need to tell me what is going on."

Melody, even though a little numb from what Cameron said, answered. "Bonnie has come to join our pack. She was sent by Drew but tricked them so she could get here and stay with me."

"The one and only Bonnie from your old pack? Wait, is that who you meant when you said Bonnie last night?"

"Yeah. That's her."

"What is this about someone listening to what conversation?"

"Cameron, thank you for telling me, I will keep my eyes open." Melody got up and kissed Anthony. "Baby, I have to go to work, let your dad explain things to you." As Melody passed the pack house, she saw Bonnie sitting on the front porch. She pulled the car over, "Hey girl, what do you have planned for today?"

"Just sitting here, a little bored. I have nothing to do until I go to your mom's at lunch time."

"How would you like to help at the hospital? I work with cancer patients. We are hoping to open up a cancer wing."

"That would be nice. Do you need help at the hospital?"

"We always need help with the amount of patients we have at the hospital. Right now, there are at least twenty wolves in the cancer ward and another fifteen in the physical therapy ward. Most of them were cancer patients now in remission. We do have a few that have injuries from accidents or from training too hard."

Bonnie got in the car pleased to have time with Melody. At the hospital she looked around, surprised at the way this place was set up. "This place is amazing. You have such a well-equipped hospital. How do you afford all of this equipment?"

"We don't charge for our treatments even if the patient is from other packs, a lot of them make donations of equipment, or other supplies. The council has also set up an allotment for the hospital. They like what we are doing, they want to help. I have helped some of the council members or their family members. This place has become well known in a short period of time."

"If you need me, I am more than willing to help you."

"We can talk to the head of the hospital on your behalf. Come make rounds with me, then we'll go home and have lunch."

"I am going to your mother's for lunch."

"Mom won't mind if I joined you. Then you two can go shopping and I can come back to work."

After Anthony finished talking with his father he went to the hospital. He wanted to discuss what his father told him about Bonnie and the wolves outside the pack. "Melody, I need to talk to you."

"Anthony, perfect timing, I just finished my rounds. Bonnie and I are going to my mom's for lunch. I forgot I want you to meet Bonnie. Bonnie, this is my mate, Alpha Anthony."

Anthony glanced at Bonnie, remembering what his father said, that she is a good person and that they can trust her. "Nice to meet you, Bonnie."

"Anthony, I should of asked why are you here?"

"I wanted see my mate, we need to talk about your security." Melody rolled her eyes, knowing this was coming. "From now on you will have two guards following you everywhere, even in the hospital."

"Anthony be reasonable. I can't have them in the hospital. That's not going to work."

Bonnie interrupted Melody's ranting. "Melody, I know what they think at that pack. They are not nice people. You need security, because they are the sneakiest, filthiest, I can't call them wolves around."

"You're supposed to be my friend and stand with me. Not him."

"That's why I am you friend; I want you safe. If he is right, then he is right. Please listen to him."

Melody gave up, "They don't go in the patient's room, they can stand outside the door."

Anthony put his arm around Melody, "I think having Bonnie here is going to help." Melody slapped him playfully.

Bonnie cleared her throat, then walked in front of Anthony. "Alpha Anthony, I know you don't know me well. I love Melody like a sister. Her and I have been friends since we were little. I want to stay here with her, I am a nurse, we could work at the hospital together. Can I join your pack?"

Anthony teased. "I will consider it if you promise to always agree with me when we argue."

"Anthony Hinze!"

He laughed at the angry face on Melody. "Bonnie, I can't see why we can't make you a member. I know it will make Melody as happy as it will make you."

"Alpha, there is one more thing. I want to do it as soon as possible. When I was in the other pack, they Alpha ordered me, and I had no choice but to rat Melody out. That's how they found you were in Texas. I'm so sorry, Mel; I couldn't help it. No matter how hard I tried to fight it. I wasn't strong enough to fight him." The regret Bonnie had was eating at her. "I let you down."

"I understand you couldn't help it. You have done too many good things to worry about me holding that against you."

"We can do it today in the office, right after lunch."

"Alpha, can we do it before lunch. Laurie and I are taking the twins shopping."

Anthony shook his head. "I guess we are going to the office, then to your mom's for lunch."

After lunch, Bonnie walked Melody out of the house. "I can see why you are so happy here. You finally got the family and mate you always wanted and deserve."

"I am blessed. This is a wonderful family; and Anthony, I couldn't ask for a better mate. You will find your mate soon you know."

"It isn't that important to me. I like being single, not having to deal with someone else's little quirks. Don't get me started on having pups. I love them but I am not ready for any."
