Chapter 14
The rest of the day was paperwork his wonderful father left behind. Drew was relieved he had something to keep him busy. That night he tossed and turned not able to sleep. 'Boomer, you feeling any better?'
'You know how I feel. You feel the same way I do. Did you do the right thing? Mate felt so good in our arms.'
'Don't we always say they are just she-wolves; one female is like another. Once I get her a house and set things up for her, she will be so happy. She would be happy just to get out of that basement. I have to ask dad why he put her in there.'
'You're right, she will be happy. We shouldn't of left her there, that is why we feel so bad.'
It was hard for them to get up the next morning, his body was all achy and sore. Eric sees how stiff Drew is moving. "You look as bad as me, didn't sleep well last night?"
"No, just felt off. Boomer said we shouldn't of left Melody behind and when she gets here, we will feel better."
"I know what will make me feel better. Food, I am hungry."
"I'm with you. A good breakfast would help my mood." When the two of them get to the kitchen there is no one cooking and no food in the warmer. "What the Hell?"
Eric grumbles, "Melody isn't here. She does all the cooking for us. We're going to have to go downstairs to the pack house dining room to get food."
"I'm not up to crowds. Cereal will do for this morning." Drew reaches for the box and pauses. "This feeling, I can't explain it. Man, I feel like I lost my something, my soul is broken and I can't get it back."
"Boomer is probably right when Melody gets back you will feel better. I am going to pass on boring cereal. A hot meal would be a lot better, let's join the pack and eat."
"I don't have time for all that. Melody needs a house, and I am going to find her one today."
"You're going to have to keep her a secret or the pack will have a fit. They will think you are sleeping with a whore."
"I have to find a house close enough for me to have her around when I want her but out of sight."
"Use the pack layout, it has all the houses available on it."
"That is your dad's department, so do you know where he keeps it?"
"There in the filing cabinet in his office."
"You get them and meet me in my office. We are going to find her a nice house so she will be comfortable."
"She isn't hard to please, anything will do."
Eric brought in the maps of the area and houses located on it. "I haven't seen these in a while. The pack is growing, there are a lot more houses on it then I remember."
"Look at this place. It is near the lake, on the far side. I don't see a lot of houses around there. Right there is a garden, females like that shit. Bet it will keep her busy when I am not around."
"The location is perfect. Let's take a peek at it and see if it is livable or if you have to have work done on it."
When they get there, the place is in great shape. "This is the place; she will like the porch." Drew was surprised how nice it looked.
"Let's check out the inside before you get your hopes up."
Drew takes the keys and heads inside with Eric following. "This place is in great shape; with some cleaning and furniture she will be good here."
