Chapter 101

Melody has been home for two days. On the second day, as much as Anthony hates it, he has to go to the office to catch up on the paperwork he didn't do while he was gone. "Uncle Charley, I am glad you're staying with her while I am in the office. I know the office is downstairs, but I hate knowing she is alone up here."

"I don't mind sitting with my Little one. Go do what you have to do. I am right here."

Not long after Anthony left, Charley hears somebody whispering his name. "Care Bear."

He hasn't heard that name in a long time. He looks behind him. "Hope!"

"Hello, my Care Bear. I've been watching you. You need to go find yourself a mate. You should not live your life alone."

"I'm not alone. I have a family; my Little one is laying here in this bed."

Hope smiles at him, "You are a wonderful father to her. You would have been a wonderful father to our little girl. The Moon Goddess has sent me down to talk to you. Only you can save Melody. It will be your choice to save Melody or to bring back our daughter to you. Their fate is in your hands."

"She wants me to choose between a daughter that I have never raised, but loved, and a daughter not of my blood but that I love more than I could ever think possible. How could the Moon Goddess be so cruel?"

Hope doesn't say a word, only peers at him with love. Then she reaches out to stroke his cheek. "You don't have much time." All of a sudden Melody's machine starts to beep and flash.

"I will never forgive the Moon Goddess for this. How? How could she do this to me?" Charley is staring at the machine and Melody, then at Hope.

"Hurry, Charley. Hurry."

Charley turns to Hope, "Hope, you have our daughter up there with you. I want to keep Melody, she has so much to offer this world, and she loves me, as much as I love her. I want her here with me."

Hope, calmy says, "You will receive a mate in the next week. She will give you, our daughter. The Moon Goddess wanted to see if you would save her daughter. One she entrusted you with so she could help the wolf world, or your own pup. Your heart is as true as she believed. The love you hold for her is true and hers for you. Be happy my Care Bear. Take care of our little girl." Hope fades away. Melody starts to wake up.

Charley automatically mind links Anthony, "She's waking up!"

Anthony rushes up the stairs to her side, "Melody, you've come back to me." She reaches up to touch his cheek, then pulls him down to kiss him.

"I've missed you so much." Anthony gives her another kiss. "The pups are waiting for you. What am I saying, they are all waiting to see you."

She tries to sit up, but Anthony won't let her, "I have been resting long enough. It's time for me to get up."

"Give yourself a little time. Don't push yourself."

"Where is Papa Charley? I need to see him."

"I'm over here, Little one." He walks over closer so she can see him. Tears are rolling down his face.

"The Moon Goddess told me you saved me, one more time. I have no words to tell you how much I love you."

"Little one, I love you more than life itself."

Anthony happily mind links their special family. "Melody is awake and wants to see you all." He then mind links the pack. "Our Luna is awake."

Laurie is the first to come to the door. "Melody, I have brought you a very special visitor."
