Chapter 74

Melody had been back at the pack for three weeks. "Baby, it is so nice to be home."

"I never want to leave again. You better not have any more concerts for a long time." Anthony was being overwhelmed, catching up on his pack business.

"Bonnie has been such a big help to me. Her knowing my secret makes things so much easier." Anthony, sitting on the bed, scanning a file, he wasn't paying attention. This aggravated Melody. "Anthony, pay attention." He looked up. "I love you, Mate, but I am going to the hospital. You should eat breakfast before leaving for the office."

"I will after I finish this I file. Don't work too hard."

As Melody stepped off the stairs there was a knock on the door. Bonnie came in, "Time for work, I came to get you."

"We are going to have a hard few days catching up with the new patients that are coming in today."

"I am waiting on you, let's go and getting started." Bonnie, being her usual happy self, took Melody's arm in her arm walking out the door.

In the car, Melody and Bonnie talked about work. "I forgot today is Bethanie's first day at work."

"She told me she is working in the lab, something about breaking down the blood to figure out how the cancer works."

Melody chuckled. "She analyzes the cells and finds the cancer and isolates it. Hopefully with time we can find a real cure for cancer." Melody was excited to go to work, her two best friends, Bethanie and Bonnie are going to be with her every day.

When the two of them got to the hospital they searched for Bethanie. "There she is." Bonnie pointed her out.

Melody called out. "Bethanie, over here." She looked up to see Melody and Bonnie coming to her. "Girl, we wanted to invite you to lunch. It's your first day we have to celebrate."

"Melody and I talked about you coming to work and thought we could get some girl-talk in as we celebrate."

"I would enjoy some girl-talk with my friends."

At lunch Melody was tired but didn't want to let Bethanie down and went to lunch with the girls. "How was your first day?"

"Melody, I loved it. We have some of the best equipment. I took blood from three of your cancer patients and the difference between each patient was so interesting."

"With any luck between the work you do with the cancer cells and the work I have started on damaged tissue samples we might find a cure."

"You are doing wonders with your treatments; they are working when nothing else has."

"It doesn't work for everyone. Plus, some of my other colleagues have tried my form of ancient healing and they can't get it to work." Melody wants to keep her hands a secret from Bethanie not wanting to take too many chances of letting her ability accidental slipping out.

"We will find a cure soon don't worry, Mel."

"Bonnie, I need a break you can fill out the last few forms for me so I could head for home early. Alpha Kevin is coming later today so it will be a long night."

"Go home, I got this."

The front door no sooner closed when Papa Charley yelled out to her. "Little one, Anthony called he said that they will be here in thirty minutes." He stepped out of the kitchen. "Why are you home so early?"

"I wanted a break, for some reason I have been tired this week. It's most likely because of all the patients I have had. I will get some coffee and head over to the pack house."
