Chapter 19
On the road part two
"Charley, it is so much warmer down here than even in California. I should of gotten some shorts."
"You are going to have to get a bathing suite for our next stop." The trip to Marcos Island was easier than the others, there wasn't anything to tarp.
The first thing they did was buy Melody a bathing suit and Charley bought a set of swimming trunks too. "What about this bathing suit?" Charley looked at her and shook his head no. After trying on seven suits Melody was getting frustrated.
"I told you next time I went shopping you could see how aggravating girls can be, but I didn't know how aggravating a father could be."
"I don't want all the boys staring at my Little one." Charley picked up a one piece that looked like his mother could wear it. "What about this one?"
"Charley, I am 18 not thirty."
The salesperson heard them talking, came over and showed them a few that was in the back. "I think one of these might do."
"They are so tight and leave nothing to the imagination."
"Sir that is what a bathing suit is supposed to do. This one covers everything but still has a young person's flair." Melody was nodding her head yes.
"Fine we will take it. I need some swim trunks; I don't want anything skintight."
"Does that mean I get to pick out yours?"
"Oh no. I will pick out my own." The rest of the day they sat by the pool and walked the beach that night. "We are going swimming with the dolphins tomorrow. You should wear your suit under your clothes."
"I have seen that in magazines, it looked like it was fun."
"They open early the first show is at ten. After that we are going to ride on air boats along the cost and around a few of the smaller islands."
"This time I will wear sunscreen. I don't want to get burnt like last time. Are we leaving after that?"
"Not this time, I want to try deep sea fishing. When I was a younger my father took us fishing all the time in the lakes around our pack. I got the fishing bug from him."
Melody went to bed, she laid there wondering what her life would have been like if her mother stayed. 'Harmony, do you think dad would of taken us fishing if she stayed?'
'Your father spent most of his time with Eric. He never took much interest in having a girl.'
'That's true, but he did talk to me and was proud of me.'
'In his on way he loved you when you were younger.'
The next day was filled with the two of them fussing over the boys looking at her. "Melody keep your T-shirt on over the bathing suit. I don't trust the trainer and he has to touch you."
"Charley, he is old enough to be my father will you stop." She kept her T-shirt on to make him happy. The funniest part is when the dolphin splashed Charley with his flipper when he was telling her to put on the shirt. You should of seen his face.
"The Dolphin Cove Marina has been so much fun Charley where is the next stop?"
"Captain Jack's Airboat Tour. I took the late tour so we could see the sun go down on the water. I have been to most of these cities and heard about different things to do in them. That is why I planned this trip like I did. I wanted to come back and try them."
At the break of dawn, the next day they were on the docks getting on a boat from Born to Boogie Charters. "The name fits you, Charley. You were born to boogie, I could tell by the way you danced in the streets." Two hours out and Charley got a nibble.
