Chapter 99

Drew runs to the pack house to shift and dress. 'What are we doing?'

'What does it look like we are doing? We are getting the hell out of here.'

'You take mate with us. I not going without mate.'

'Stop making me crazy. I am getting her now shut up.' He grabbed his keys off the desk and headed to the bunker. "Open the door."

Once the guards opened the doors Drew grabbed Melody and started dragging her out to his car. "Drew, you're hurting me. Stop."

"Shut up your coming with me and I don't want to hear a thing."

Kevin reached for Drew to stop him. "Son, what is going on?"

"The pack is yours. I'm taking what's mine and leaving. You better do something the Council has men coming."

Melody is picked up and shoved in the car. "Drew, this is insane leave me here I will slow you down."

As Drew pulls off Kevin mind links the pack, "I'm taking over for my son. There will be no fighting or confrontations with the men that are coming. Allow them in." He takes Bonnie's arm. "Mind link Anthony, tell him where we are and to get here immediately. That my men will not stop them."

Anthony is in the car with Branden when he hears the mind link. They take off as fast as they can only to see the Councilmen's guards and his men getting to the gate. Kody links Anthony. "Where do we go?"

"Follow us Drew ran off; Kevin is in charge."

At the bunker all the women have left the underground prison and are standing outside with the pups. The men see their mates, they run over and grab them in their arms. Anthony yells, "Melody." The rest pull apart not sure how to tell Anthony. "Where's Melody?"

Kevin comes forward. "Drew drove off with her about two minutes ago."

"Why didn't you stop him? Where did they go?"

"The border patrol said they just crossed the border at the south gate."

"Where the hell is the south gate?"

Kevin points in the direction. "Stay straight on that road there are no turn offs until you get to the main highway. If you step on it you can catch up to him." Anthony doesn't wait for anyone to go with him, he jumps in the car and takes off.

Melody is holding on for dear life in the car with Drew. "What are you doing, Drew? Slow down you're going to kill us!" There is a loud bang in the front right of the car. The tire blew. The car flips on its side and slides about thirty feet down the road. Drew sees Melody laying there not moving. 'You killed mate.'

'You don't think I can't see that. We have to get out of here.'

Drew pushes his door open as soon as he climbs out he shifts. 'I want mate.'

'We can't have her. At least he won't have her either.' Boomer looks back and lets out a mournful howl then runs into the woods

Anthony sees Drew take off into the woods and runs to the car. He sees her laying there. "Melody!" He mind links; "Bonnie, tell them to send an ambulance on this damn road Melody is hurt bad, she is unconscious."

Anthony takes every bit of his strength to right the car. He opens the door and sets Melody in his lap on the ground. Gently he removes the hair on her face, "Wake up for me, Baby." His hand rubs her belly where his pups are. "Baby, I need you, the pups need you, wake up." He starts to rock her in his arms.

He sits there for what felt like an eternity, when her eyes begin to flutter open. "What happened?" When her eyes focus, she sees him. "Anthony."

"I'm here, Baby. You are going to be alright."

She tries to move. "Anthony, it hurts all over. What happened? How did I get out of the car?"

"Your front tire blew and the car flipped on its side."

"Oww, not now."

"What's wrong?"

"I think the pups are coming." She makes another face, "I know they are coming and fast."

"An ambulance is coming. They'll be here soon. Hold on."

"Tell them that, they don't want to wait, they want to meet their daddy." With her face twisted in pain she cries out, "They're coming, you're going to have to deliver them yourself."

Anthony stayed calm on the surface and panicked inside. "W-w-what do I do?" His voice studders at first then gets back to normal

"Take off my underwear, you're good at that. Then play catch."

Anthony has sweat pouring off his face as he tends to Melody. Within minutes the first boy is born, "He's beautiful Melody! He's perfect." Anthony takes his shirt off to wrap the pup in it. Here, hold our son."

Melody smiles at him then feels another pain. "See if you can find something in the car for the next one." She lets out a small groan as another pain hits her.

Grabbing a shirt out of the car he rubs it all over himself. Then goes back to Melody. "I found this shirt."

She looks at him then the shirt. "Why did you rub yourself on it?"

"My son is not smelling that bastard first thing when he is born. He is going to smell me." She makes one more face as the pain hits hard. "Are you okay?" He rubs her hand to try to calm her. He mind links the others, "Where the hell is the ambulance? We have delivered one of the pups and the next one is almost here."

"Baby, the next one is coming. I can feel it, it's there."

Anthony lays the first baby down, he sees the second boy coming out. "That was fast even for you." He wraps his son in the shirt from the car and hands him to his mother. Melody is covered in bruises from the accident, she has one large cut across the side of her head.

"Anthony, I have a bad headache."

"The ambulance is coming we will get you something for your headache. You gave me two beautiful sons. Look as how much they look like me."

Melody takes her one hand and runs it down Anthony's face. "I love you, Anthony." Her eyes get heavy, and she can't keep them open.

"Melody, Melody!" Anthony is shouting at the EMTs, "Get the hell over here and check on her." Cameron is in the car that followed the ambulance. He runs over to his son who is now looking at both boys in her arms, screaming out Melody's name.

The EMTs pick up the pups from Melody's arms and hands them to Anthony. "We have to get her on the stretcher. You can ride with us to the hospital, we need to have the pups checked out."

Anthony doesn't move; he is frozen in grief. "Son, get up, she needs to go to the hospital move." He is frozen to the ground, staring at Melody. When his father goes to take the pups, he pulls them away from him. "Son, come on. You have to go. Melody needs you. The pups need you. Get up!" Anthony moves to get up but never says a word. "I will be in the car right behind you." He climbs in the back of the ambulance not answering anyone still holding the twins.

As the ambulance pulls into the hospital, the EMTs rush Melody to the emergency room. Two nurses come to take the boys. Anthony won't let them go. Bonnie was there with the rest of them waiting for Melody and him to get there. "I will make sure they are safe." Bonnie puts her hand on Anthony. He looks up at her and nods, letting her take them to get checked out.

"Son, come sit over here." The rest of the group join him in the waiting area.

"Anthony, did they say anything in the ambulance?" Anthony stares at Branden, he has a blank expression. Branden is worried, seeing his Alpha like this. "Alpha, what do you want us to do? Alpha, you are the only one that can give me orders and we need you."

Branden looks to Cameron for help. "Give him time he will come around he is in shock. It isn't easy to deliver your own pups and watch your mate pass out in front of you. Especially with all that has happened in the last few weeks."
