Chapter 16

"Drew, take the pictures for the men. Break them up in groups. Don't miss any transportation areas in a twenty-mile area. That should give us some kind of a lead. I am going with Beta Michael."

The ride to Bonnie's house was gloomy neither man wanting to talk about what was happening. When they arrived at the front door Bonnie's mom, Phoebe, answered. "Alpha, Beta what can I do for the two of you?"

"We would like to talk to Bonnie."

"Alpha, she is not up for company."

"It is important that we talk to her."

"I was wondering did you find Melody?"

"Not yet."

"She is a sweet girl. Always polite to everyone." She stares at Beta Michael, "It's a shame what keeps happening to her." Her contempt for him is in every word.

The Alpha knows how much this woman hates the beta. That is why he came along to have this talk. "Can you get Bonnie now please?"

She goes to the stairs. "Bonnie, come down here, the Alpha wants to talk to you." When Bonnie steps off the bottom step her face is puffy and red from crying. Her mother whispers something to her before she leaves.

"Bonnie, I came here for your help. I need to know more about my daughter. You are the only one I can turn to for answers."

"Now you want to know about her?"

Her mother returns, putting her arm around Bonnie, giving her support. "Let's sit in the living room."

Glancing at her mother, thankful for her support, she lifts her head. "What do you want to know?"

"When we went to the school, we found out she helped a lot of pack members. I also found out she had a job which surprised me. Can you tell me what a day in her life was like."

"She never stopped. The guilt she felt when her mother left here was eating her alive. It became her goal to make up for what her mother did. That is why Drew not wanting her as his Luna was stupid."

"Bonnie, please what did she do in a day?"

"Right, Beta, sorry." Her voice was condescending as she continued. "She had two jobs, one at the school on the weekend and in the morning at the pack house. First thing she did when she got up was to clean the alpha floor of the pack house. Ran back downstairs and cleaned the area she was assigned for that day then ran back up to make all of you breakfast. After she finished, she went to school. I would say she went to hell not school."

This time the Alpha needed answers. "She helped most of them that needed help, why would they treat her so cruelly?"

"That is your beta's and his son's fault. A man in charge treating his own daughter like he did, made a lot of the pack feel she was trouble. Then his son would tell his friends such horrible things about her that most of the school either ignored her or picked on her. The only time they talked to her halfway decent was when they needed her help. The worst rumor going around was the Beta telling everyone she was a whore and an unfaithful B. I won't say that word."

"I never said that about her."

"Talk to your son, he told everyone you did. The bruises the two of you left on her, sometimes worse. I don't have to tell you what you did. That had the ignorant kids throwing food at her, pushing her or hitting her."

"Why didn't she fight back? I know she can defend herself." Michael was clenching his fist, he was so mad.

"The first time she fought back you beat the shit out of her. The next day Eric had the kid smack her around to make a point. So why fight back." Bonnie took a break to stop her tears from falling. "You want to know about your daughter, explain to me why after everything this pack did to her, she still helped them and loved them. After everything you two did to her, she cooked and cleaned for you. She still loves you both with all her heart."
