Chapter 87
Anthony went home for lunch. As he pulled in the driveway, he saw Charley across the street in the open lot walking out measurements with his feet. "What are you doing, Uncle Charley?"
"We need a bigger house. This is the perfect spot, it's twice the yard, access to the woods and near everybody. If we are going to build, we have to start now, or it won't be ready in time."
"We have to talk to Melody and see what kind of house she wants."
After two days the house was designed the way Anthony wanted. Melody still wasn't totally happy with the upstairs. "Anthony, we're not having any more kids. We Do Not Need the extra two bedrooms."
"Melody, one more time." Anthony pleaded. "I even planned for twins."
"No, Anthony, no!
Anthony nuzzled Melody with his nose, then started nibbling her ear, "You know I'll win, why fight it?"
Melody just moans, "Sometimes I don't like you, Anthony."
The house was huge with eleven bedrooms upstairs. Each one had their own bathroom. Downstairs had a playroom, music room, two offices, large living room, dining room, and kitchen. The best part of downstairs was the little apartment.
"Papa Charley, I know you just wanted a bedroom in the house, but I have a surprise for you. Come look." They built a suite for Papa Charley, it came with a kitchenet, living room, and one large bedroom with and ensuite bathroom, and a smaller bedroom with a bathroom next to it."
"You didn't have to do this, Little one."
"Yes, I did, Papa. I love you and I want you to be happy."
"As long as you are in my life, I'm happy. Now let's get the blueprints to the contractor. He has a lot to get done."
They had around the clock men building the house. Many times, they slept to the sound of hammers and saws running. Four weeks later, the empty lot had a large house on it. Everything that was in the blueprint was now sitting there for everyone to see. "What do you think, Mom?"
"It is a beautiful house. I can't believe it only took four weeks to build. There were so many men running around here the pups watched them and laughed at how silly they were."
"Papa Charley wanted it done before the boys were bon and he pushed them to work 24 hours a day."
"I like your bedroom downstairs and Anthony bragged how he had it sound proofed. I told your mate to make sure it was next to the steps. The pups won't be able to sneak out at night."
"I never thought of that. What made you think of that?"
"Your mother isn't an angel you know."
"You're telling me you were a rebel as a teenager. I can't believe that. No one would know looking at you now."
"Life changes you. Having Eric changed everything. I wanted to be the best mother I could be, so the rebel was put to sleep. I still have my hot pants and my skimpy halter tops. They are a simple reminder of my old self and what I was."
"One day you are going to have to show me them."
The new house was filled with all their friends. Getting to see how the house turned out. "Hi everyone," Cameron came in with a woman on his arm. "This is my very special friend Christine. The one hiding behind us is her daughter, Victoria."
Christine waved at them, "I think I could actually pick each of you out by name. Cameron has told me so much about all of you."
"Anthony, Christine was hoping she could join this pack."
