Chapter 12
Drew's point of view.
'I found my mate; I can smell her. Where is she?' Drew searches the room with his eyes. 'There she is. Oh no, it's Melody, Eric's sister. He hates her, him and his father have most of the pack turning against her. That is going to be a problem. I don't understand why, she never causes any trouble. He is my best friend and my beta. It's my duty to back him. She hasn't seen me yet. I have to talk to Eric and see what he says and go from there.'
"Drew, this place is nice. The seniors are going to have fun on this trip."
"Eric, I need to talk to you. This trip is not important."
"This sounds bad what's wrong?"
"I found my mate."
"Drew, that is the best news ever." He pats him on his back all enthusiastic for his friend. "You don't look too happy. Who is she?"
"Melody, your sister."
"You got to be kidding me? There is no way the Moon Goddess would do that to you."
"She did. Melody is my mate. She doesn't know it yet."
"I feel sorry for you."
"I don't see why you are saying that. She is really pretty and has a damn good body. She is quiet, helpful and not pushy. Even on the training field she holds her own, and she doesn't even have her wolf yet. I think she will be a good mate."
Eric gets sarcastic. "Until she decides to leave you like her mom did to my dad. He said she is worthless just like her mother was."
"I liked your mom when we were kids."
"Mel is a carbon copy of her mom. She acts like she cares and wants to help everyone, until a male comes along with a sob story and ends up leaving with him. Dad said she is too weak to stand up for herself. At least her mother fought for what she wanted. If you don't believe me, ask him."
Drew's phone rings. "Hello, Dad."
"Yeah, we can handle it. I will be back late tonight." Eric stands there waiting for Drew to tell him what that was about. "Your dad and mine have to go help another pack. They are leaving tonight. He was in such a rush he didn't let me get a word in edge wise."
"We have to head back now?"
"I said I would go back tonight but he said tomorrow morning would be fine. That gives me time to figure out what to do about Melody."
"You want me to call Dad real fast so he can tell you what he thinks."
"They don't have time right now. I trust your dad and I know you wouldn't lie to me. Now what do I do reject her? Then I might as well say I will never have any heirs."
"There has to be a way around this." Eric rubs the back of his head. "It's a shame you can't pick your own Luna and keep her on the side."
"That isn't a bad idea. Now how do we get Melody to go along with it."
"That's simple. Threaten her, get her so scared of you she does whatever you say. Then set some ground rules. You sure in the hell don't want her to steal your pups like her mom tried to steal us."
"No one is taking my pups from me. I will let her have them, but my chosen mate will raise them. We need to sit down and figure out how all this is going to work. I don't want to be too mean to her, she is my mate and hasn't done anything wrong to me yet."
"You would be one lucky son of a bitch. Have a mate and one on the side. I would love to be able to bed two females and get away with it."
"First thing I have to do is get her in bed with me, let her know what it is like to be with her mate, then let her get used to the rules we are going to organize today."
