"I know I keep these feelings to myself, like I don't need nobody else, but you're not the only one on my mind, if I'm being honest."

***

Isn't it hard being forced to maintain that image that you put up for yourself in society, the silent pressure that weighs on your shoulders, that make you feel like you're about to collapse?

Jason struggled to sleep that night, thinking about everything.

The more he thought about it, the more selfish he felt.

It was wrong. People shouldn't think like this, but it was like second to him, nature up to this point.

Every time he thinks of something, his mind goes back to her. When Reyna and Jason first started dating, he thought he could do it. He thought he could strive in an all-transactional relationship.

He thought he didn't need love.

Reyna had talked with him about her feelings. It wasn't something she did commonly, so Jason listened intently.

"I care for you, you know that." She had said. "But I don't enjoy being vulnerable, so naturally, I despise relationships."

"I get it," he had told her, "It's tough to let yourself relax. It sounds harsh but.. I don't think I can love you."

"I know," she said. "I don't think I can either."

They smiled at each other, understanding passing by them.

"Nevertheless, I'm glad we're in this relationship," she had said. "I normally like isolation. Now I see that people aren't too bad."

He had chuckled. Maybe they couldn't work well as lovers, but they sure as Hades could be great friends.

"I know you really want to date Piper," she had said.

He had blushed. "W- what makes you think that?"

"Your eyes speak volumes."

The two agreed to break things off, right then and there, while they spoke, smiling and laughing, in the silent Griffindor common room.

If anyone walked in, the last thing they would think was that they had just broken up. They were speaking so casually, Hades, that conversation they had shared was so much better than any other they had had while 'dating'.

Now here he was, thinking about how to advance on a girl, when he had broken up with Reyna less than a day prior.

They were gonna pretend to be together while at camp, though, so it was kind of useless to think about it.

Percy had offered to take everyone to camp half blood, though Reyna, Hazel and Frank declined, saying that they had things to do, but they'd take time to visit another time.
