"Do you have a girlfriend?"
Jason, Piper and Leo had spent the rest of the afternoon just awkwardly walking around.
They were sitting around the campfire after dinner, and a girl had approached him. He was sitting besides Percy, Piper, Leo, Annabeth, and Thalia.
"Uhh," he said. "No, I don't."
Piper frowned. "What about Reyna?"
Jason was stunned for a moment. Those were probably the first words she had actually directed at him, in a long, long time.
He cleared his throat, regaining his composure, "We broke up."
"That's great!" Percy clapped his shoulder.
The others stared at him, confused.
"How's that great?" Annabeth asked.
Percy cleared his throat, "Uhh," he said. "I didn't mean it like that."
Eyebrows raised in his direction, and he nudged Jason to explain.
"There wasn't really much of a connection," he shrugged. "We agreed to break it off."
"Too bad," Thalia said. "I liked her."
"Really?" Jason asked.
"Yeah," she said. "She seems badass."
"She was," he smiled.
The other looked between themselves, confused.
"What about camp, though," Percy frowned.
"We'll keep up the charade at camp, but outside of it, I'm single."
"That's nice to hear," the girl next to him said, her hand on his arm.
He shifted away, uncomfortable.
"So, when are you gonna go back?" Thalia asked.
"Probably tomorrow. Octavian would be suspicious if I stayed too long, also, Reyna would need help with dealing with the others."
Will took the lead that night, singing with the last few Apollo kids there were.
By the end of it, everyone was singing and cheering. Campers were no longer sitting, enjoying the moment.
