"I know I said I'll be your friend but it's too hard, hard, it's just too hard. I said I'll be there 'till the end, but it's too hard."

Numb, that's what he was.

Percy sighed, looking at himself in the mirror. Percy hadn't seen Annabeth anywhere at camp and didn't know if it made him feel better or worse.

Probably worse.

He walked out his cabin, people looking over at him like he was a bomb that was about to explode, and that wasn't too far from the truth.

When he had woken up that morning, he felt like punching something, like if he didn't, he would have too much pent up energy that would never get released.

He quickly shoveled down his breakfast, ignoring all the stares and walking to the arena.

Leo joined him soon after.

"Hey, Perce."

Percy grunted in response as he punched the sand bag. It wasn't used very often since sword fighting was the most important skill to master, and you almost never get into hand to hand combat with monsters, at least, once you're in that situation, you're already pretty much dead.

Leo knew that Annabeth was away and had started to worry, having heard his outburst with Jason the other day.

Percy looked him over for less than a second before focusing on his sandbag, "I don't need your pity." He said.

"I'm not-"

"So you aren't worried that I'm gonna fucking lose it?" He snapped.

Even if he was losing it, he didn't like the fact that others knew it too.

"I know that you're dealing with a lot, Perce," he said, unfazed by his demeanor. "Pushing us away won't help."

"Nothing will," he muttered under his breath.

Leo stayed silent for the rest of the time and if Percy was in the mood to joke around, he would've commented about how calm he was compared to normal.

Leo couldn't stand sitting for the entire time, though, so he got up and walked around as Percy kept training.

"Jason's worried for you, man." He said, grabbing a sword from the wall. "He says your acting differently."

"Of course he did," Percy grunted, before scoffing. "Everyone's saying I changed. Well, what did they expect me to do – sit around and stay the same forever?"

"Change does happen," he said. "But.. Percy, I just think-"

"Look, I don't really care what you think," he said. "If you don't mind, could you leave? You're interrupting my focus."
