"I hope you're happy, but not like how you were with me. I'm selfish, I know. I can't let you go. So find someone great, but don't find no one better. I hope you're happy, but don't be happier."

Annabeth was okay.

For the most part.

Though she was sad, she found solace in her friends.

She had taken them for granted, and only now had she realised how truly important they had been during the last few years.

Hazel, quiet and mature, always fair and unbiased with her opinions, which Annabeth relied on for her honesty.

Hermione, smart and analytic, always manages to make Annabeth spill her guts.

Piper, cheery and loving, always pushes Annabeth the right amount so she's never in her comfort zone.

Even the boys help wherever they could, which she appreciated.

She knew about Jason's troubles, yet he always makes time to help her. She had always looked at him as a younger brother, since he, Bobby and Matthew sometimes seemed like the same person, mature, logical and determined.

But if she said that, it would be unfair to the others. Truthfully, she saw each of them as family. Some of them were obviously closer to her, but that didn't make them irrelevant.

Like Reyna, Annabeth didn't really talk to her all that much, but the respect they had for each other was evident.

She wasn't about to let herself be a mess over a boy, even if that boy was her everything, the guy she thought she
would live the rest of her life with.

At least he's happy.

He's smiling still, which made her feel better about everything. A part of her wished that he would be crushed, pining over her, but she knew that she want to see him hurt.

She just wanted him to want her.. even though she was the one who broke up with him.

Selfish.

She knew that he probably wished the best for her as well, so it made her even more mad at herself.

That day, they had potions with professor Slughorn with Slytherin.

The rumors were still flying at an all time high. Some people even sent her hate mail, which Hermione was really mad about, since she was the only person who could actually read them.

"What unsolicited, insensitive, foul people would write these?" She had asked.

Percy had always had a lot of fans, and Annabeth really couldn't blame them, since the guy was amazing.

Ron swung an arm around her shoulder as they walked towards the class. "At least we escaped the great serpent." He said.

"He's still our defense against the dark arts professor," Hermione giggled.
