"I was scared of pretty girls, and starting conversations.."

***

He had search for a whole day. The son of a bitch had moved.

"Why'd you do this?" Ethan asked, holding a knife to Steven's neck. "Fucking answer me!"

"I did what I had to do," he said, unfazed.

Ethan clutched a stack of letters in his other hand, resisting the urge to crumple the papers.

"You psychopath," he spat.

"I'm not the one with the knife, am I?" He asked in the business-like tone he always used.

"Why would you keep these from me?" He asked again.

He just stared at him blankly, not threatened by the weapon that was at hus throat.

"Answer me!"

"Like I said-"

"I will fucking kill you! Give me a genuine answer!"

A ghost of a smile graced his lips, and Ethan grew agitated.

"You needed the motivation," he said. "What better way to feel the need to improve than compare you to your sister?"

"By fucking telling me to improve, and telling me that you're actually proud?!" He yelled. "You could've cared, but no! No! Steven Nakamura has no fucking heart!"

"But look what you've become, a disappointment!" He sneered.

Ethan knew that he shouldn't care for what he said. He knew that he shouldn't feel hurt. But he did.

He clenched his jaw, holding back tears. "You robbed me of a relationship with my sister," he said. "You tortured her to the extent of her ending her life!"

"And I'd do things differently if I had the chance," he said genuinely, but the look behind his eyes – the wild, cold look – didn't disappear.

"No you wouldn't,"

"I would," he said. "Maybe if I did, you wouldn't be such a fucking failure!"

"How's this my fault?!"

"You're the one who joined that stupid army," he laughed. "Seriously, what potential did I ever see in you?"

"You're sick,"

"I'm your father, that's what I am. And I've never been more annoyed about something in my entire life."

"Was Sarah a disappointment to you too?" He asked.

"Yes," he said firmly. "She held too much emotion. Those were the same emotions that drove her to kill herself."

He shook his head in disbelief, "You're unbelievable,"
