Mitch got tired of waiting for someone to explain the situation to him, so he finally said something. "Can I know the secret too?"

Avi was the first one to question him, glancing up from his food. "What secret?"

"Kirstie and Allie's secret." Mitch clarified.

Scott set his hand on Mitch's thigh. "Mitchie, baby, maybe you shouldn't."

Avi didn't really hear him though, because he turned to Kirstie, equally curious now. "Secret? You're keeping a secret from me?"

Alex was too afraid to answer, so Kirstie responded instead. "Not really a secret. Just... Something we're talking about."

"Yeah? What is it then?"

Alex's eyes were wide, but Kirstie kept a calm face. "It's really nothing, Sir."

Avi squinted at her a little, wanting to know, but decided to drop it. "Fine."

Scott frowned. "Wait... Now I wanna know too."

Kirstie frowned right back at him. "I don't ask you about details in your personal life."

"I don't think I would mind if you did."

"But..." Kirstie ran out of arguments, not wanting to get herself into trouble.

Alex tried to save her, speaking quietly. "We can't have any privacy?"

Kirstie jumped on that quickly, knowing what to say. "Is it because we're Omegas?"

Scott instantly felt bad. "No, of course not. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to disrespect--"

Avi rolled his eyes and interrupted. "Scott, don't be stupid. You didn't disrespect them." He turned in his seat. "Kit, you can't just pull the Omega card because you know Scott is an empathetic mess. It was just a question, don't make him feel bad about it."

Kirstie didn't really expect that answer, and she stopped speaking for a moment. "I'm sorry..."

Scott leaned over to Mitch, to change the subject, and gave his temple a brief kiss. "Are you still hungry, baby? I'll grab you more food."

Mitch shook his head, turning to smile at him. "No thank you."

Jake leaned over to Alex, to whisper something to him, and then he stood from the table, taking both he and Alex's plate with him into the kitchen.

Alex felt less secure without him at the table, so he looked down to his lap, and didn't look up.

Avi glanced at him a few times, until he confirmed that Alex wasn't going to look up anytime soon, and then he raised an eyebrow. "Alexander?"

Alex looked up abruptly, but looked down just as fast. "Yes, Sir?"

"Are you okay?"

"Yes, Sir."

"Then why are you avoiding eye contact with the entire table?"

Alex shrugged, wringing his hands nervously. "I-I don't know, Sir. I'm sorry."

"Look at me, Alexander. Now."

Alex looked up in an instant, terribly afraid of being in trouble.

Avi raised an eyebrow. "Answer my question."

Alex stuttered out an answer that was incomprehensible, and then shook his head and looked down. "I'm sorry. I'm not good at keeping secrets." He stood from the table to retreat into the kitchen.

Avi considered shouting after him, but didn't. He turned back to Kirstie. "So it is a secret?"

Kirstie was just as bad at lying, especially trying to do it straight to Avi's face, so she stood from the table. "I'm going to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back."

Avi briefly glanced at Scott and Mitch, about to ask them, but he rolled his eyes at them (not surprisingly) immersed in each other.

Scott looked at something under the table, presumably Mitch's legs, and Mitch suddenly became a little bashful, as he grabbed Scott's chin with both of his hands to tilt his head upwards.

Scott met his eyes with a smirk. "What?"

Mitch shook his head, a light blush on his cheeks. "Nothing... Just stop staring at me."

Scott's smile fell when he remembered a recent conversation they'd had about Mitch being uncomfortable when Scott stares at him, so Scott nodded quickly. "Of course, I'm sorry."

"Thank you."

Avi wasn't quite sure what had happened, or why Scott sounded so apologetic, but he intervened anyway. "As a quick side note, Peanut. If you didn't want him to stare, you should've put some pants on."

"You're probably right." Mitch responded easily.

Avi glanced at Scott for a second, seeing him hunched over his food with a distressed look on his face, and then Avi turned back to Mitch. "I think you hurt his feelings."

Mitch looked to his left at Scott, and frowned. "Alpha? What's wrong?"

"I wish... My staring didn't make you uncomfortable. Because... You're nice to look at."

Avi laughed once, shaking his head at them. "Please. Your staring doesn't make him uncomfortable. He grovels for your attention, remember?"

Mitch glared at him a little, but Scott responded before Mitch had the chance. "He told me it did. Be respectful when you speak to him, please."

Avi stopped eating, to look up at him. "Sorry. My bad. I didn't know that made you uncomfortable, Mitchell. Since when?"

Mitch's answer was interrupted by Scott's phone ringing, and Scott hurried out of his seat to grab it off of the charger in the kitchen.

Scott immediately came back into the room, sitting back in his seat after he'd answered the call. "Oh, I think it's just sitting on my desk."

He paused a moment, as Kevin spoke back to him, and then responded. "No, there's nothing in there. That drawer is to hide candy for Mitch." Scott's eyes widened and he looked at Avi. "Oops."

Avi just raised an eyebrow, not speaking.

Scott continued his conversation. "Yeah.. Did you find it?" A pause. "Oh, good." Another pause, longer this time. "No, no. I can make dinner. Take your time. You can eat when you get back."

Scott grinned at whatever Kevin said, and nodded. "It's not a problem. You're welcome."

Wyatt came out of nowhere, to jump on Mitch's lap, and then got himself comfortable enough to lay down.

After Scott hung up the phone, he set it on the table. "So... I'm gonna head out to the store to get something to make for dinner. Would you like to come with me?"

"You're not going to take Mitchell?"

"Well... I was going to. But you always tell me not to be the only Alpha since my hand is hurt."

Avi held out his own hand toward Scott, but Scott didn't move because he didn't understand.

Mitch leaned toward him a little. "Alpha, he wants to look at your hand."

Scott's eyes widened, and he quickly offered his hand. "Oh, right."

Kevin hadn't wrapped Scott's hand that morning, probably deciding he was fine without it, so Avi could easily look at it. Avi shrugged after a moment. "Looks fine to me. You two will probably be alright."

Mitch tuned back in, after petting Wyatt for a bit. "Wait, where are we going?"

Scott leaned over to kiss Mitch's temple. "We're going shopping, baby."

Mitch gasped in excitement, but Wyatt stood to jump over to Scott, sitting on his lap instead.

Mitch used to get offended by this, but eventually he figured out that Wyatt usually goes to Scott after Scott shows Mitch some kind of affection. Which, after further consideration, Mitch found quite adorable.
